OK,

I'll try the procedure and steps you recommend.

Your setup should be fine. The only thing I can think of at the moment are the following.

- Ensure the new computer is configured for DHCP (to acquire an IP address automatically).
- Ensure the XP-Pro firewall is disabled
- If none of the above works, I would shutdown everything (including the router and the PC) and power them on again starting with the router. Once possibility is that the router was confused in the DHCP table it is maintaining.

If none of the above helped you, come back, report your findings and we'll look at something else.

Hi,
I have a BEFSX41 router and a EFAHO5W hub. The router is in one room with two PCs connected to it. The router uplinks to my DSL line and that all works fine.

In another room I have a third PC that is connected by CAT5 cable to the router in the first room. That works fine as well.

I want to put a second computer in the other room and use my EFAHO5W hub to connect the new PC and the original PC to the network. When I tried I got address (IP) conflicts on the network and I couldn't fix it. Is there something I'm not getting?

By the way all the machines are running Win2KPro except the new one I want to install in the second room which has XP-Pro on it.

I'm sure this is something really simple.

Thanks,
Jim
