| reply to dslmadeasy Turns out that aside from being qualify for the order system's distance requirement, at this high speed, lots of thing get in the way: the modem being used, the inside wire condition, the outside cable line quality, etc, etc. So don't be surprised to find out later that your line may not be able to handle 3Mbit even though you were able to place the order initially.. --

| I hear that. I sent you an IM dslmadeasy on my decision for a tech visit inside the apartment. I definately want the package if at all possible. Hopefully since the tech said my outside line will handle it, we can find the problem inside. That would be really great. Hopefully is something simple like the modem, as this one is a 5, or 6 year old Speed Touch Home. Thanks again for all you are doing for me. ESRI pre-qual |
Wow I should've posted my pre-qual question here! Bloody hell... Misleading subject titles. :-)
I hope you folks are ready for the big "what the f?!?" pre-qual result from BBR, versus what »routemap.esri.com/rmims/dsl_web says
Santa Clara, Mountain View CA 94043 Phone: 650-964-XXXX
about 6730 feet

The attached JPEG is what ESRI says.
I LOVE how SBC/Pacbell routed things. You've got to be fricking kidding me! Now I understand why there's an RT 2000 feet from me (which is unavailable for use apparently).

| It does make sense, however. According to the map, the phone cables are routed along the street "avoiding" houses in between (and of course it could have done better routing to avoid longer distance, but again, DSL is unheard of at that time and who would have think one day in the future, the phone cables will be utilized to provide DSL service??) for easy maintenance: climb the pole or dig a hole, etc... |

Re: [Availability] Wants Expert Plus Upgrade, see this: dslmadeasy Since this all started here with you helping me I wanted to thank you here. You did a great job, and deserve a pat on the back. You stuck with me through the process, and explained when I didn't understand something. I have the new modem (speed stream) on the way, and it will be here the same day my new speed package is scheduled (9th). I over nighted it, but it won't ship til monday.
As we discussed if I have a problem on the ninth I will contact you via IM.
Thank you -- When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.Helen Keller |

It's impossible to cover all the households live in the United States and give accurate distance of each (especially new community developments are poping up here and there on an annual basis, and thus changing landscape along the way). But it does reveal how the cables have to be run from CO, avoiding houses along the path, to reach its destination.
When in doubt, just call the SBC order desk to find out. After all, that's the first obstacle (gate keeper) to overcome to reach your destiny any way. --
