Normally most Tarrant County cities refer to it as "deferred adjudication" which basically means probation.
You pay a flat fee and then if you do not get a ticket in the same city for 2-3 months, the ticket drops off your record. You don't have to take defensive driving or anything. You'll only have to be super careful in the 1 single little city you got the ticket in.
The only problem with this is that you have to appear in court to request this option.
To make it easy - you can send a small check or money order to the best traffic ticket guy in town since the early 80's (the dude rocks):

The last time I got a ticket it was like $35 for him to deal with it and send one of his rookies to go to the courthouse and get the probation. | |

You're correct, the dude rocks. Last year I got a ticket for disorderly conduct, "language". That's right you read that correctly, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, LANGUAGE.
My wife and I lived in a apartment over a guy that was for the lack of a better term a hermit for over 4 years. My wife and I are a interracial couple. The guy downstairs never put 2 and 2 together and associated us being a couple until I spoke a total of 9 words to him(in 4 years I spoke a total of 9 words to this guy)one day when the electric transformer blew in our complex.
I was outside watching the electric crew fix the
transformer and he walked up. I said to him, "Is your electricity out also?" He replied, "Yes, which apartment do you live in?" I answered, "I live above you." Now, he knew my wife was living above him, because they would cross paths walking our dog. He had a dog also. At the time I worked 6 days a week, 10 hour shifts, so I was almost never home, so he really never saw us together, like I said never put 2 and 2 together.
We never had any problems with this man up to this point, but afterwards we sure did. Almost immediately he started complaining to the apartment complex management that we were noisy and we had wild parties. We played music at all hours of the night, etc. The office investigated by asking our other neighbors about us. The rest of them said they never heard any noise or parties and such from us, so they quickly dismissed him and told him to call the police if we were so bad.
This man started calling the police on average 4 to 5 times a week on us. It got to the point that we knew the police officers by name. We would have them come in and have a cup of coffee, no joke! This man called the Fort Worth building standards office and reported we were living in squalor. The police told us of his complaints. We were told that he reported us as drug dealers, and we were cooking meth in our bath tub and that I beat my wife daily. And to boot, she enjoyed it.
The last time he called the police on us, he got the balls to come up to our apartment door and stand behind the police officer while he was talking to my wife and I. We were sitting in our living room watching tv when they arrived. I took this action as he was trying to punk me in front of the police. I was not having any of this. It was already taking every fiber of my being to begin with to not go downstairs and kick this old man's ass for all the trouble he was causing my wife and I. But this is Texas...who do you think would have gone to jail? The 39 year old black guy, or the mid 50's white guy?
So, I told the police officer I was finished talking about the issue, that we weren't making any noise and this man has harassed my wife and I for months now. As I was closing MY front door, I said to my wife, "What an asshole," referring to the guy that lived downstairs. 20 seconds later the officer was knocking on my door again. He stated that the guy downstairs wanted to press charges on me, for calling him a asshole. Since the officer heard me also he had to issue me a ticket for disorderly conduct, language. I checked into this charge, and yes it's part of the breaking the peace law. In Texas, you can catch a case for swearing in public. But wait a minute, I was inside my home, closing my front door...so this was total bullshit.
James Mallory took this case personally and was in court on my court date. My name was never called to approach the bench. After 45 minutes of sitting in the court room, Mr. Mallory came to me and told me he had the case thrown out.
End of story, my apartment complex did not renew the guy's lease because of all of this, he's gone, we're still living in the same apartment. No complaints from any of our neighbors. | |

Holy cow... Mallory is more like a ghost now. He use to do it all himself, but it's like a corporation now. The big man himself showed up for you? That rocks.
I don't dig on the inter-racial stuff myself. But, I'd never treat someone differently because of it.
Sorry about that one. It's to bad you could not have gotten some evidence (like a 24 hour video camera) in your apartment and then sued the jerk for false police complaints or defamation of character (or something).
