To access a Linksys modem's log, connect to the internal web page for the modem - »192.168.100.1 - the fifth tab includes the log information. As Hobgoblin mentioned, don't panic if you see entries that you don't understand. This forum is a great place to search for answers. The folks here have been a great help to me on a couple of occassions. |

"To state that it is being worked on is misleading. In 99% of all situations, it has no impact other than these Failure reports in the Modem's log."
Actually people reading their logs causes more impact than anything else. I have seen people driven into a frenzy because their log says this and that. Of course it supposed to happen and there is nothing wrong with their connection but that does not stop it!

| reply to Coolbrz said by Coolbrz : It has been posted here a few times. It is the general provisioning file that has the firmware for the Terayon modems and your modem recognizes that it does not need that and that is why it fails.
It is being worked on and is nothing to worry about.
Actually, it has no Impact on Fully Docsis Compliant modems. If the Firmware isn't for the modem, the modem is SUPPOSED to discard the firmware, and continue on.
To state that it is being worked on is misleading. In 99% of all situations, it has no impact other than these Failure reports in the Modem's log.
In the 1% of the situations where it HAS had an impact on modem's, well THAT is being addressed. -- Join the NAVY, see the world....It's mostly water! |

| I keep seeing log entries from my Linksys cable modem that indicate Adelphia is attempting to upgrade the modem with new software. Here's the data from the log entries:
First entry: 2004-02-04 14:21:43 notice SW Download INIT - Via Config file res-plink-1.cfg SW file:cm_gz_terayon_6.23.3__.pkbinq - SW server:68.70.15.170
Second entry: 2004-02-04 14:21:45 error SW upgrade Failed before download - File not Present SW File:cm_gz_terayon_6.23.3__.pkbinq - SW server:68.70.15.170
The modem (Linksys BEFCMU10) reports the current software version is: 1.0.6 (cm_gz_terayon_6.23.3__.pkbinq)
I've noticed the failed "upgrade" several times over the past few weeks. Any ideas???
