Good eye yes it is. About 1/3 of my room is "decorated" with bicycle racing related stuff and that photo of Eddy is something I got when I first got into bicycle racing many long years ago. I once had a chance to meet Eddy in person at a local bike shop when he did a PR tour to promote his new bike company. |

FYI: You should probably remove the hand lotion from view before taking photos of your computer workstation -- I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to encrypt it. |

Actually that is some hand cleaner stuff. An attempt to wash my hands more often and try to avoid getting sick this winter. So far it has worked.
Besides cleaning up before taking the photo defeats the whole slob image. |

Ewww...
Not to sound like an anti-tobacco Nazi (though my wife *does* coordinate a tobacco-prevention program funded by the "big tobacco" settlement money), but do you have any idea what cigarette and cigar smoke does to electronics? In my younger days of office machine repair, I can't tell you how many printers, faxes, etc I ran into that had turned from a pleasant beige to a hideous chocolate brown. And I'm talking dark chocolate, not that woussy milk chocolate! To subject such fine equipment to that gunk...such a waste... |

Two anecdotes come to mind:
I remember once in my early days I had to go out and replace a really nice Cornerstone monitor at a graphics house because the guns had apparently gotten wonky. they could no longer properly color-balance the display, and it was useless for graphics work. I looked at it and everything was sort of a dull hazy greenish brown
When I got the monitor back to the shop, I realized it totally reeked of smoke. Remembering that the primary user of it smoked non-filtered Luckies, I had a sick feeling in my stomach that I knew what the problem was.
I gave the screen a shot of windex, and lo and behold, I watched the green-brown tint just slide off the screen, and it was really heavy blue underneath because they had been steadily adding blue over the last year.
Anyway to make a short story long, the monitor was perfectly fine except for the nearly opaque layer of tar and crap on the screen..
Next, I remember that my friend was constantly complaining about how badly constructed CD-RW drives were. His only lasted about 6 months, and then went bad. He was buying really expensive ones, too: Plextor, Yamaha, etc. I knew he was a heavy smoker and I told him that he was probably killing the optics with tar. Well, he of course told me that I was crazy, so I bet him one of his CD-RW's that there was nothing wrong with any of them.
So, the next day he brought all 4 of his dead CDRW's to work, and I took them apart enough to get to the optics. With him standing there, I swabbed the optics with a alcohol q-tip, and let him see the brown that came off. I put them back together, and they of course burned flawlessly. It was great, I got my pick of the litter, a Plextor 48X burner that I brought back from the dead.
Anyway the moral of the story is that cigarette smoke is bad for electronics.

That's the kind of stuff that got me off smoking so long ago. Imagine that sickly brown layer coating your lungs. Not pretty. -- "I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones."- John Cage |

Eh, just spray some windex down the hatch and you'll be fine, like the monitor. -- I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to encrypt it. |

Dying of emphysema isn't pretty either. Good for you for quitting. |
