Re: Spbot is fine for me.

Not to make this a spybot vs. ad-aware dispute, spybot finds a heck of alot more spyware on a PC the the latter. Plus its ability to download updates to detect new spyware makes it incredibly accurate.

Heck, both of them do a good job. What I do is run ad-aware first then spybot to double check.

Actually, Ad-Aware can now download updates as well.

I do have to agree, though. Spybot seems to catch more spyware, although I run both, just to be sure.

I'm curious how you tested this... If you ran SpyBot first and cleaned spyware out, that doesn't leave Ad-aware much to find. Say you've got 50 items of spyware and SpyBot finds 45 of them. Clean them out and then run Ad-aware. It finds the remaining 5. That doesn't mean SpyBot is better.

I run both actually. I don't care or think one's better than the other. I know Ad-aware doesn't consider c-dilla spyware, but Spybot does. At the same time, there's probably items that Ad-aware considers spyware that SpyBot doesn't... They're both small, unobtrusive, and free, so like I said, I use them both.

I think it was Maximum PC that said that Spybot removed a few more "spyware" apps than adaware. Notice a said a few and not "a heck of a lot more" like the previous poster. I believe this is due to spybot having more updates put out than adaware. That said I use both.

Ditto for me. Plus Spywareblaster for preventive measures.
