| [wireless] WRT54G - Hacked Firmware v2.00.8.G-> by WiFi-Box
We are picking up where the last thread left off when it was locked by the moderator due to amount of messages on it making it too long.
If you are new to this forum, Welcome.
Here is where WiFi-Box »h.vu.wifi-box.net/wrt54G has generated a most excellent variant to the factory default firmware in the Linksys WRT54G Router.
It includes port-forwarding Server Profiles, PPTP Server, VPN Setup screens, advanced wireless options and many more extras not found on the factory default version of the firmware.
The latest version is "G". If you want to catch up, please go here »[wireless] WRT54G 2.00.8 Hacked Firmware /w VPN and do some reading. For now we await the next masterpiece from WiFi, direct from France. |

| reply to SpydrMAN Hey guys...new to this. Been growing grey hair trying to connect to my work VPN for a long time now. Linksys tech support is so...well let's say BRUTAL. They will not acknowledge a VPN Passthrough problem with this router.
At any rate, I have been reading the previously locked thread and just downloaded version g (great work WiFi-Box!). I am still however unable to connect to my VPN. I have flashed with new bin, reset to factory default, and reset the router. Internet, email, etc work fine...but still no luck on VPN. Is there something I need to do to be able to access my VPN at work? I have tried connecting by domain name and IP. I am using stardard windows xp VPN connectivity client. |

1 edit | I may have found a bug with version g, or maybe it's something I am doing. I've already mentioned that if I connect to my VPN on one computer, I can't connect from another computer at the same time.
Now if I connect to my VPN from one computer, disconnect and then try and connect from another computer, it will not work. I have to reboot my router in order for it to work on the second computer. Then if I want to go back to the first computer I would have to reboot the router again to do so. |

I have exactly the same problem. The sveasoft's firmware does not have this problem, as well as the official one. |

I've noticed alot of the screenshots have 10.x.x.x on them but I use 192.168.x.x
Is this configurable now? or am I stuck using 10.x.x.x addresses when using the hacked firmware?
thanks |

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong getting the G firmware to work? If I install F or G it is impossible for me to connect to the PPTP server of my ISP. My WRT54G (v1.0) tells me it can't connect to the PPTPserver.
I use an Alcatel Speedtouch Home IDSN - ADSL modem. I need the PPTP protocol to get my connection to work.
At the moment I use the latest working version E.

| reply to SpydrMAN I dont quite understand the VPN server parameters. From the text file:
------------------------------------------------------------ Login -> Use for add client Username & Password,
"Username" [Espace] N [Espace] "Password" [Espace] IP [Enter]
ex:
"Tintin" [Espace] * [Espace] "My pass is long" [Espace] * [Enter] "Anges" [Espace] * [Espace] "Bonjour mon amour" [Espace] * [Enter]
* Note: Need "" for Username and Password ------------------------------------------------------------
What is the full syntax of each line? What does the N stand for? Which values for IP should I use, or should I use *?
Having said this: I seem unable to activate the VNP server. The XP client comes no further than verifying username and password.
I do NOT have the Server PPTP marked because I assume the VPN server does not need this. If I disable the VPN server and mark the Server PPTP then I can connect, but then my VPN host is another PC in my local network. Have I misunderstood the way to configure it?

| reply to linksysOLD Hi,
I just received my WRT54G V1.1 today and first of all I flashed this Firmware. But I have two little problems:
1. The Nameserver on the router didn't resolve it's own IP, so WinXP trys to use the next one in chain. (After a 2 second break. Can I modify a local file to solve this problem, so that the router resolves his own name/ip?
2. The local Nameserver on the router resolves by IP, e.g. 192.168.1.10 will be resolved, but only to ".lan.localest", while my domain is "lan.local", and my computer-name is "test". Is there a possibility to correct this?
Thanks for helping me with that ...

| reply to henk48 Login -> Use for add client Username & Password,
"Username" [Espace] N [Espace] "Password" [Espace] IP [Enter]
On my screen, I do not see N or IP in both places I see an asterisk *
Like in the examples below:
ex:
"Tintin" [Espace] * [Espace] "My pass is long" [Espace] * [Enter] "Anges" [Espace] * [Espace] "Bonjour mon amour" [Espace] * [Enter]
* Note: Need "" for Username and Password
So the sintax should be as follows: "Username" * "Password" *
and make sure you do a hard return after the last *
Version H is coming soon from WiFi and I think all the PPTP/VPN Server Problems will be corrected. |

no tidal, you are not stuck using the 10.x.x.x series of ips. I am still using 192.168.x.x. You can change this as you like on the Setup page. Mod Edit. Graphic removed at poster's request. JM

Wow, wifi, this firmware is great. Lots of stuff for me to screw with and make a mess with. Ha Ha.
Any progress on either syslogd to a remote place or putting a good logging client in the firmware? Say a logger that would log... Date Time Wan IP DHCP CHanges Wireless Changes Ports In and Out KBytes transferred up/down
or is this too much for the router to handle.
Thanks and keep up the GREAT work. -mac -- The funny thing about firemen...night and day they're always firemen |

@chello.nl | reply to SpydrMAN So I have 2 alternatives for VPN:
- Via Server PPTP forwarded to my home pc - By Activating VPN Server on the router
Is that correct?
(VPN server seems unreachable from the WAN) |
