1 edit | Is Adelphia changing routing?
Forgive my ignorance regarding the network but are they fooling with the routing today? My connection has been like night and day today and while running traces I noticed that I'm being routed all over the place in a short amount of time. I was tracing to Yahoo.akadns.net and noticed today instead of being routed through Washington D.C as usual today I've been going through Los Angeles and Dallas Fort Worth all the while in a few minute period. Problem is my connection just goes out for about 5 minutes(modem is still synced though)and when I trace right after I'm going through a new route.
Edit: Now I'm heading through Chicago!?!? (scratches head) |

| Post a few traces to www.yahoo.com
Use this program (and its -u switch for UDP packets) to do it: »www.r1ch.net/stuff/ftrace/
Most likely what you are seeing is your traffic getting routed to Yahoo's San Jose site. -- Adelphia - Is it working now? |

2 edits | reply to cb4492 It looks like Yahoo is doing some work/having problems with their Washinton DC site, forcing users to the San Jose site.
SDC is west coast, DCN is east coast. (for Yahoo)
The third trace (which doesn't show responses after hop 12) is probably that way because UDP pings are blocked at that hop. -- Adelphia - Is it working now? |

When taking into account the first few hops of your previous posts, no.
Its a great example of ICMP packet rate limiting that Adelphia is doing. -- Adelphia - Is it working now? |

That's because what your streaming isn't using ICMP packets. -- Adelphia - Is it working now? |
