Digital Cable Box problems

I have had my digital cable box for about two years and recently since Adelphia took HBO off of the regular channels and on to digital cable, I have been using the digital box more often, and I have noticed that while I am watching a show the signal cuts in and out maybe 10 times in an hour program. I am watching HBO and the signal is lost and like 3-5 seconds later I get it back but for that 3-5 seconds the screen black or the signal is scattered. Now I was wondering if this is normal, my regular cable is fine and I get no problems with it so I am thinking that if there is a problem it is with the digital box.

I honestly have no clue about the digital boxes. But I would definately give a call in to your friendly regional call center and I'm sure they'd be able to assist you. If it is an issue with the box or with the signal I don't think anyone here would be able to resolve it. I'd just call in.

Digital boxes aren't too far from their cable modem cousins, sometimes all it takes is to unplug it for thirty-five seconds and plug it back in to reset it.

tiling is not normal. you could have a signal issue or that QAM could be getting errors. make sure you have 1 GHZ splitters in your house also. is it just HBO's that are being affected?

No it is most channels on the Digital Box, and I think I do have a 1 GHZ splitter in my house but I have to check on that.

Neutrox,

1.Tune to a digital channel which displays the problem your seeing the most.

2.Push the "Power" key on the box, then within 2 seconds push the "Select" key.

3. A diagnostic menu should pop up.

4. There should be a menu marked "Inband status". Arrow down to that and push select.

5. It should show SNR for that channel, it should also give you a number in dB and display "GOOD".

What does your's read?
