| DG834 Corrupt Firmware
Hi, Tried updating my firmware to a1.03.00, must have turned off too soon. All I get now on my DG384 is the Power & Test Lights Flashing Alternately. Is it now a right-off ? or can something be done to repair it ?
Thank you, Rogermt. |

@202.83.x.x | Same thing happened to me. Netgear apparetly has a possible fix otherwise it has to be swapped over. |

| I have just been emailed this from Netgear. I have not tried it yet. unzip the files into a folder and also place the firmware .img file (yes the new one that broke it in the first place) into the same folder. then run the upgrade wizard executable.
I will post here tomorrow and let you know if it worked for me. |

@203.acc05-wick | Just doing mine now. Perhaps Netgear should post the utility on their web site as it is a problem that they know about.

@243, 203.97 | reply to Rogermt Will the recovery utility also work with the 834G? Is it a legitimate NetGear utility? I've sent one router back already so I probably won't be able to do the same if the recovery utility doesn't work.
Thanks -SmurF |

| reply to NathanO I had the same problem after the upgrade !!!!
The pathetic technical support at Netgear advised me to return the router back to the dealer who I bought it from for exchange. If the utility could fix the problem why didnt they say so and save me a lot of bother, time and expense. I feel so annoyed after what I had to go through with the dealer to get a replacement. |

@243, 203.97 | Is the upgrade wizard executable just the tool to update the firmware from the configuration web interface or is it something else entirely?
Thanks

@netgear.com | The recovery tool is a separate executable that will run on a Windows PC. It works with DG834 and DG834G. |

This happened to us, we are a reseller and after 30 mins on the phone to Netgear about the problem 10 mins of which was trying to make them understand we were the reseller and not the customer, we were told to send the faulty unit back. It was just an off chance that we were checking on here before the unit went back and saw the utility posted. There tech support is a joke why not give us, a reseller of there products the utility. It would save time, expense and keep a lot of customers, us and theres happier. From the times we have dealt with Netgear tech support it feels as if they gone down the same route as Dell and moved there support outside of Europe.
Thanks to the people who keep posting invaluable tools and firmware updates here helping many people and companies like ourselves to solve problems that Netgear should and can help with, but tend not to. |

| I attempted a firmware upgrade today and my router is now stuck in the alternating POWER/TEST LED cycle.
I have downloaded the utility and put the firmware image in the same directory.
When I run the UPGRADEWIZARD, it only shows my NICs. How do I use the image?
Additionally, I cannot ping my router so how would the program talk to the router?
Puzzled. Che |

@netgear.com | reply to cyeung There should have been some very detailed instructions in a .pdf file. Did you read this? |

| reply to Rogermt Er...what PDF? I got the utility from this forum.
Actually, I selected the NIC connected to the router and it worked.
(After speak with Netgear, who advised a reset via the factory reset button and then power cycle which didn't work ) |
