[CA] BIG Problems with recent Line Quality

Well, I don't know if anybody else has had any recent problems, but for the past 4 days or so, I've been getting MASSIVE amounts of packet loss and very large ping spikes on Mediacom HSI. Running Line Quality Tests (»/quality/nil/1257944)
, I've been getting anywhere from 15-50% packet loss. So, my question is, is the problem with me, or is it with them? And is anybody else getting the same problems?

You might want to post your modem's signal levels since it does look local. What modem are you using? Are you behind a router?

Normally, the following URL will give you the modem signal levels that some will probably ask to further help your issue:
»192.168.100.1/

Hi, Sorry for not posting them in the first place. Here they are:
Downstream:
Frequency: 519000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio: 35 dB
Upstream:
Frequency: 26352000 Hz Ranged
Power Level 26 dBmV

It's weird...it doesn't give the downstream power level...it's a Surfboard SB3100 3.0.7.

You'll find that the downstream power level is disabled in 95% of all Surfboard 3100's. Has your return power level always been at 26 db? Thats a very low level and could easily be getting some noise interfering.

Murasame, if you can IM me your cable modem mac Il let you know whats going on. We haven't had any Sun City plant issues this week so it appears to be an individual problem.

I looked at your modem in the CMTS and found you are on an upstream which currently is @ 15dB SNR. This is a system problem and I will get a headend tech on this tomorrow morning. Sorry for the inconvienence.

Thanks Mr Admin! It's really appreciated. I recently talked to my neighbor who's incidently a tech and he said something like Mediacom implemented some upgrade from their center and that it's causing a whole lot of noise in the system, which causes the large packet loss and pings...he also said that around 13% to 30% packet loss is "acceptable for broadband internet" which I just can't believe...

Thats correct. However, that packet loss is definetly not acceptable. I will let you know what they find tomorrow. Thanks

Well, apparently not much has been done because I'm still getting results like these: »/quality/nil/1259936 . So, what's the report on when this sort of a problem is gonna be fixed?

Thanks for the help
