| [XP] One XP Pro Problem, One XP Home Question
XP PRO: The last few days our XP Pro System has been having problems with Windows Explorer crashing semi-regularly, always in association with using the right-click --> Properties or right-click-->New on the desktop.
I shut down the system manually (Turn-Off command caused WE error) and attempted to go into the system through safe mode. This displayed a error that the
/system32/ntoskrnl.exe was missing or corrupt Normal boot into Windows has been succesful without problem, except for Windows Explorer error. Yesterday we ran a Windows Repair from the CD, but that did NOT fix the error.
Shouldn't Windows Repair fix this corruption? If not, is clean install the only option? I assume copying this file from an XP Home install would NOT be effective?
--------------------- XP Home: I noticed on my XP Home laptop (wireless connectivity), there is a User Account called "ASP.NET Machine A... " (Yes A... is as named). Anybody have any idea what this is from? |

| Not sure about the pro problem, however the Home question is easy. At some point in time you've installed the .NET framework. This creates the ASP.net user account. People have said they have removed it with no problem, I think it is only used for ASP.net development, but I'm not positive about that. I do know it does come with .NET and is safe. -- The day I stop learning is the day I die. |
