Re: Official Speed Tests Thread

Testing our new 50Mbps residential tier on UTOPIA in Utah. Upload is still ramping up when the test stops:

Verizon FIOS 15/2 package; running with OpenDNS on an Apple iMac 20" 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo

Getting a little more than advertised on the downstream; a little less than advertised on the upstream. Connection has been solid 24/7 for 2.8 years without a single second of downtime.

If you want to try your fiber connection on a fiber-connected speedtest server, try this one:

»speedtest.paxio.net/speedtest
(java version only)

Here are some recent numbers from my connection:

P.S. Please don't "hog" it. I always get my best number on the second try, though, so be sure to try it two or three times to "prime" the connection.

Pretty impressive speed test going from Sacramento, CA to New York, NY (2,500 miles away) on my supposedly 20Mbps/20Mbps connection.

I did a couple of speed tests from Paxio's test site and here are my results:

To closest server (Los Angles):

Their downstream must be saturated for some reason, maybe because their DSL customers are downloading? LOL

Similar result using their own applet:

That was using my laptop connected to a 10gige (fiber) connection where I work. I didn't know all the postings had to be from a home connection?

That has to be a glitch because you won't get 1 ms from 1200 miles away no matter what

DC shows up as 1100 miles for me when it should be around 25 or 30.

FiOS needs to correct my upload provisioning since it should be at 20mbs.

see if your ONT needs a reboot because I have had my upload come down from 20 mb to about 10 and a reboot fixed it.
