"if that were the problem the 2 technicians that came would have fixed it."
In a perfect world where all technicians are competent that would be true. Of course if your problem is not local there is nothing a technician can do for you. I would just keep harassing tech support with logs of your packet loss. If you only experience packet loss during prime time then it's not likely that a technician could help anything sounds more like they need to beef up their network out there. |

| I had the same problem last week but with a different result.
Intermittent packet loss, associated with changes in the upstream power. A tech was scheduled for Friday morning, arrived on time. He was stumped, called for a senior field tech, and two more showed up.
3 hours later they left. Together they found and corrected:
Wrong DC Incorrect (and defective!) tap. 550 Mhz tilt corrector that should have been removed 6 years ago when the network was rebuilt. Mis-adjusted amplifier
They also replaced half a dozen crimp-on F connectors with snap seals on general principles.
So, not all RR service calls turn out bad. |

In the vast majority of areas, there's only one cable company, so that's unlikely to happen. There's always Earthlink cable, but they run over the same Time-Warner lines as RR, so any issues you have with RR would more than likely affect Earthlink as well.
Sounds like it's time for you to look into DSL or other alternatives to cable. |
