It is about time. ..better Check Point than Microsoft.

  Zone alarm is annoying. It screws up apache, our internet, and file sharing on our network sometimes. Only the latter two of these problems were fixable, and it just wasn't worth the effort.

apache? ...if you're running a web server and zone alarm on the same machine then that's just asking too much from a consumer grade product. That's not the proper way to protect a web server.

It all depends on how you look at it. If purchased by Microsoft, you'll probably get the firewall free. We're not sure what Check Point will do yet.

I run Apache 2.0.48 and ZAPro on the same box--they get along perfectly fine. There was a bug in an earlier version of ZAPro (I remember the bug was reported on the Apache site, and the devs got really pissed when people kept reopening it ), but that has been resolved for a long time now.
