Re: Adelphia hdtv

Call the company... in Anaheim, My city wasn't listed but when I called they scheduled me an appointment. When the tech came over, he rewired my house with new cables and splitters for free... possibly a benefit of being a "tester".

"My question for Mac and Hob is, now that my city is listed on the site how much longer do i have to wait? And if they beta testing can i be apart of the team?"

I will have to let Mac answer that...I know nothing about TV other than sometimes it is good to watch.

i was going to ask the same question as to the topic and it appears that on adelphia's site my city is listed as the next rollout "moreno valley". My question for Mac and Hob is, now that my city is listed on the site how much longer do i have to wait? And if they beta testing can i be apart of the team?

I have Adelphia HD in WPB. 3 HD channels that are marginally better than digital. Except Monday Night Football, which looks amazing. The HD box cabled with "component out" makes the other non HD channels look fuzzy. I connected a standard cable wire to the tv1 and the digital and analog channels are much clearer. So now I only use the component video out to watch HDTV. Any one else having this problem.

I've put in a request here just south of Boston, MA for some channels. Would like CBS for the Super Bowl, plus a few other CBS programs. Also for NESN (local sports which Comcast carries in HD) which carries Bruins & Red Sox games in HD. Then really, I said that ANYTHING would be nice. Having 2 channels is a little weak. I'd be embarrassed to be the head HDTV guy at Adelphia and only be able to offer 2 channels for months while other systems have at least 8.

That's the million dollar question I want to know. Rumor over the internet is there trying to add CBS in time for the Super bowl. I could care less for CBS, instead I feel they should focus on HDnet (full hd programming), Discovery HD, ESPN HD or even Fox Sports HD (yes, they offer this). Anyone that lives in the Socal area, I highly suggest taking 10 seconds to request these channels at this link. It may help them know where the demand is in this small market. »www.adelphiasocal.com/section_contact.shtml

BTW, The quality of HD channels in Anaheim, California is top notch. They have excellent Picture Quality on the channels they have and I would personal recommend to anyone interested.

Thanks. I have tried that but my set is a 4:3 hdtv. I know the hd will have bars on the top and bottom, but on the non-hdtv - I have to reset the scan lines to 480 to get a full picture. If not, I get a 4:3 picture with a 2" black border all around. I thought there was a way to reset itself to a full screen. Thanks again. Your info works perfect on a 16:9 set, which I did for my friend.

ijgolf:

You have to setup the cable box to see your 16:9 screen. Shut off your cable box. Hold down the Guide & Info buttons on the cable box. Then the screen setup starts. Setup your screen for 16:9 and 1080i. Turn on the cable box. Your HD channels should fit with no black bars.

Now all your nonHD channels will have bars on the left & right. Go into the Advanced Settings. You'll see the setting for Picture Size. Set it to Stretch. This will stretch all the nonHD channels to fill with no black bars, but it won't change the HD channels.

You should be good after that. The Guide bar on the bottom of the screen doesn't fit like before, but who cares!

Besides HBO, Showtime do they offer any cable HDTV channels (Discovery HD, HDnet, etc)? If all they offer are NBC,CBS,ABC,UPN, and WB I don't understand why I should switch from using my OTA HDTV receiver.

I just got Adelphia HDTV in Florida. Even the techs have no ide how to set up the cable box. Only 3 channels so far. I have a standard shape 32" Sony HDTV. When I view the HD channels, I lose 3-4" off the top and bottom of my tv - even though it is full with. 1) does HDTV only come in the 16:9 wide screen format? 2) can I set my tv to see a full picture at the 1080 setting?
Plus the HDTV picture is only a little better than the digital image I had before and on the other channels. I don't think losing the size equates to the slight better picture quality.
Need some answers or help with setting.

They wouldn't let me do a self install. Said they had to "test the lines" 'n stuff. The dude came out when I was at work. Tells my wife "your husband will want to set it up his way". Translation....I don't know how to hook it up so I'll leave the cables dangling (actually he halfway hooked it up wrong). No worries as I had the thing going in less than a minute. Watching Monday night football in HDTV right now. Even the digital channels look better as I went from the single composite input to the component. Absolutely amazing. Expensive? Yes! Limited? Heck yeah! But for early adopters like me it's more than worth it.

Adelphia.com is listing four HD channels as being available on their system in Loudoun County, Virginia. Even though there are at least a half dozen locals broadcasting in digital now, only two, along with Showtime and HBO, are listed.

Its available just very recently here in the NE Ohio area. Currently offering 4 HD channels (ABC, NBC, SHO and HBO) with more to be added in next couple of months. Using a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD box which just replaced the digital box used previously. I did a self-install in like 2 minutes but advise you to read the SA 3250HD documentation first. How hard is it to hookup. I was told that its a real pain?

It took 10 minutes to install. Set top box replaced with one that has component video output
