| [XP] Internet Explorer Will Not Function Properly
Okay last night i found a site with a lot of spyware tools/programs on it. It's located at »www.spychecker.com/software/antispy.html
Anyway i downloaded most of them and tried them all. Now my internet explorer doesn't access the internet. BUT any other device that I use that needs the interne will work properly... Such as Outlook, MIRC, telnet, ftp, ssh, etc etc. Just internet explorer will not and totally refuses to bring up any web sites what so ever now. Any clues or ideas in how to correct this problem. Thanks in advance for any help provide to quickly solve this issue.

Try doing a reinstall of IE, this seems to fix most of those problems. -- The day I stop learning is the day I die. |

There should be a way for you to do a repair install from your windows install disk through your add/remove programs control panel. -- The day I stop learning is the day I die. |

You can try doing a repair of IE by going to Start->Run and typing "SFC /scannow" (without the quotes). You'll probably need your XP Cd during the process.
If that doesn't work, a System Restore is probably the easiest likely solution (Of course you'll have to deal with some of the spyware problems over again).
Most spyware removal tools also make backups of what they remove, so restoring those backups would be a possibility. Uninstalling and reinstalling your network adapter is also a possible solution. You might also try an LSP Chain repair tool such as LSPFix - »www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm -- Brain: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? Pinky: I think so, Brain, but "Snowball for Windows"? |

Something else you might try, that I just thought of, is going back in time by using a system restore point before IE broke. I've done this a few times when different parts of windows went screwy and I've had really good success with it. -- The day I stop learning is the day I die. |
