| Missing File Install.exe
I'm missing the file install.exe in the windows directory. Because of this, I am unable to install software on my computer (Getting an error referencing ikernel.dll). Is the any way to recover the file from my XP cd or would it be better to get the file somewhere online? |

Sault Ste Marie, ON | I'm missing that one too. ikernel.dll also for that matter. There is no install.exe in the windows directory that is part of windows XP as far as I know. What exactly is the error you get and does it happen with all software installations? |

| I get the message "Installation failed", then it refers to ikernel (dll or exe?.. not sure) and install.exe. ALL software installation on my XP home computer fails.
I have all but the bare minimum services enabled only for web browsing, which works fine. Does COM+ services affect installation?

Need to be specific - is it ikernel.exe or .dll?
(FWIW - Error in Ikernel.exe When You Install Programs By Using InstallShield).
