 URGENT - VPN Help

I have a VPN connection on my desktop, so that I can connect to work and remote control our servers and telnet to our AS/400 and RS/6000. This has been working great until now. I replaced my D-Link DI-604 router with a Netgear WGR614v2, so that I can have wireless in the house. I installed it last night and just now tried to use my VPN connection. It connects, but just sits at verifying user name and password. I know it is working on the other end, I called a co-worker and he was able to VPN using his comcast connection. I placed my desktop in the router's DMZ, but that didn't help. Need some quick expertise on this.

did you try opening whatever port your vpn software is running on to your computer's ip??? I've noticed that setting it as the "DMZ" isn't 100% reliable

OK... made a discovery

I set everything back to factory defaults and the VPN connection now works. Started making all my custom changes, one at a time, and trying VPN connection. The culprit: I had checked Disable SPI Firewall because my bandwidth tests were averaging around 930K instead of 2M+ that I was getting before with the D-Link DI-604. I had read that disabling the SPI firewall would speed things back up, and it did, at the cost of my VPN connection. Wonder why that is?

That is odd. This week I just got a WGR614 (not ver 2) with SPI on and, Comcast connection, and can connect using Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient. FWIW...

That's just it... With SPI firewall enabled, VPN works, but my bandwidth is cut to 900K up / 60k down. With SPI firewall disabled, VPN doesn't work, buy my bandwidth is as advertised (2mb down / 128K up)
