| So, we have a new portal today...
While it may be an incremental change, it is, in my opinion an improvement. "The fan" still doesn't work (but its early yet), but I like that little toolbar on the right hand side that pops out. While most of the revamped page is nothing but "eye candy," some of the new video content isn't all that bad, except it is still done in Flash, so I can't view it in Windows Media Player.
For those running OSes that doesn't support Flash, now there is even more stuff you can't use on the portal.

| reply to mbernste I think Comcast is starting to understand portals. There is defenantley more to improve, but they are trying to make a broadband freindly site. I just don't like all of this eye-candy, just want access to everything. -- 1..2..3.. random card!! |

| It would be nice if they had a non-Flash version, but the layout is pretty good in my opinion. It gives you a lot of information without the feeling of it being cluttered. Granted, for news and information I'm still going to CNN and other sites, but every so often they have a video clip or story that I do miss elsewhere.
What really IRKS me is that one of their default bookmarks is TechTV. ARGH! -- Dean For America

| reply to mbernste But..but... if they had a non-flash version, then they wouldn't be able to bill the site as "100% Broadband", as they have been doing to this newer designed 'portal'... haha -- King of BB... Bling-Bling, that is! |

Ok..Maybe I'm missing something. What is "The Fan"?
I'm lost. I went out and looked at the comcast page this morning (comcast.net), and it looks the same to me. -- ============================ --Brian Plencner E-Mail: saursesCancer@comcast.net Note: Kill Cancer to Reply via e-mail |

| reply to mbernste I've never found any value in portals. To me they are just an unnecessary stop on my way to where I really want to go on the Web. Why wouldn't I just go to whatever site I wanted to go to? Why waste time going somewhere else first? |

| reply to mbernste I like it... 1) all the extraneous garbage is out of the way unless you want it... 2 The assistant bar is more programmable than anything else comcast has offered...
Now it still ain't as good as the old attbi page but its a durnsite better'n it was... |

and....? I just did now. So what? Still looks the same to me.
I guess my problem is I only go out to that site for one reason: and that is to look at my e-mail on the server. I do this so I can empty the "screened mail" folder, check my inbox for spam, and then clean it all out. That's it.
To me, that's all I care about at Comcast.net. Everything else is just in the way.
The best thing that comcast could do would be to provide a direct link to your inbox, without having to go through all the "flash" to get to it. If something changed in the way the e-mail section is done (new buttons, new features, etc), I would notice that. But, I don't even read or care about anything else on the comcast.net page, even after I sign in.
I would be happy with a login box, and then a link to your inbox, which would pull up the mailbox screen. That would be the best. -- ============================ --Brian Plencner E-Mail: saursesCancer@comcast.net Note: Kill Cancer to Reply via e-mail |

Try this link: »www.comcast.net/qry/goto?app=mail It should prompt you for userid/password and then go straight to mailbox. It still uses flash during the sign in process, but it cuts out the step of going to the home page 1st. -- My Home Page
