So far, so good quib! I hope this lasts! It appears you know exactly who to talk to at RR regarding these latency issues.

Same old, same old here. Called them this morning to complain again and was told that a lineman hasn't actually worked on the issue yet, but one would be here sometime on Friday. So for your entertainment pleasure, here's my latest ping plotter.

It looks like the cable problem in the Sugarland is fixed. The past two days, latency has been low with minor packet loss.

Kstar, how did your appointment go? Did they fix your signal problem?

have a nice day everyone,

It's not an appointment, persay, the guy wont be coming to the door, he's just supposed to check an amp on a pole not far from me. I'm instructed to call back in if the problem is not cleared up today. So we'll see what happens. Thanks for asking. Yep, still losing packets, it seems to be less intense today than others, but I'm not dropping the fight for a "sorta" fix.

This is really getting out of hand!!! I haven't had stable internet access for over 2 weeks!!! It started out with just bad packet loss/high pings. Now I can't stay connected for more than a few minutes. Customer service denies that there is a problem. They just sent someone out to test my lines. They said they were fine and then left. My neighbors have been experiencing problems as well, but it seems to be spotty. Only about half are having problems. Some have had no problems at all.

I live near Blackhawk and Beltway 8 in the Kirkmont subdivision. (ZIP 77089)

What else can I do to get this fixed? Do I call tech support and ask for a supervisor?

Thanks for any replies!

Yeah i found out my high pings was due to a virus/trojan using my connection all the time. I'm still getting the packet loss though : \

You da man Quibbly! Why is it so hard to convince RR that they, NOT the client, may have a borked router located on some upstream NOC?

I supplied data for over a month and got 0 response. Obviously, when this happens again, I need to provide data to the right individual- an individual that can actually fix the problem; it is too bad good, responsible, and capable technical folks are few and far between at the RR shop.

New Update: Called again today to complain again, talked to supervisor Mark, as the tier 1 was about to start me down the road of tearing my home network apart again. Mark stated he saw no packet loss but did see a signal discrepancy so he would send someone out again. I requested someone knowledgeable in networking to prove my case but I was denied. I will be getting another TV guy. Today is the 2 week anniversary of the start of problems for me. My next appointment is for Wednesday, so I guess we'll see. Ah, here's my latest ping plotter for your review.

I can check on it, but I need either a phone # or MAC to your modem (I would suggest the latter). You can also call in, but I can't guarantee you will be able to reach me. My extenstion is 1390 (level 3 support) but I may be on a call or unavailable. You are welcome to try.

  omg
HI ALL
i live in PEARLAND
My ISP is ROADRUNNER
and my connection is intermitent during the night...
i thought i was the only one struggling to get my lag and disconnections fixed.
RR BLOWS here like at 6pm starts lagging at 7 is imposible to play withoug geting disconnected. you cant play any games and im sure it doesnt have anything to do wiht my configuration because i tried it on my 3 comps and wiht XBOX Live. Also, im sure it doenst have anything to do with the server where i play (useast.battle.net)
it is so sad that i cancelled yahoo dsl to get RR to get a faster connection. and yes RR is faster but so unstable. I have called like 6 times and emailed liek 10 times but they also come up with an excuse or just ignore me . Last email i sent the graph of my traceroute that i got from ping plotter freeware and they replied : " we are sorry but are not allowed check attachments"
Im really pissed because they offered me a 24/7 connection that they cant provide Im tired of begging them to fix it. So guess ill have to call SBC again and go back to the slow dsl

@rr.com

Hey Rrhouston, whats the number to call? I get between 12-30% packet loss in the mornings since before thanksgiving and lots of techs have been to my house and non of them have fixed it. I also get pauses in my connection and dropped from online games due to the loss.

i got my RR with Time Warner. they also offer earthlink, anyone in my area konws if it is good or it has the same problems as earthlink?

h-town dude

@rr.com
Earthlink is through time warners's system so you will have the same problems.

i c h-town dude then what will i get?
its weird that you have your problems during the morning and here is at night . at 8 pm is the worst.
today the tech guy came and he said he fixed it but just lagged out from an online game. :/
the modem started blinking so it was prolly the network if this repeats tonight ill definetly cancel RR and get some 56k hahaha

h-town dude

@rr.com

I want to cancel too but the only thing keeping me from it is the dream of having a perfect connection at 3mbps. The packet loss is getting worst and is not only happening in the morning, for some reason when a tech comes the connetion likes to act right. When the tech was here he was like well i had the local office ping you and it was like 1% i was like?? it was like 36% before you got here. so he says he's gonna report to a line tech to come check it out which means it won't get fixed. Last time a line tech just said the line was ok and left.

Hi,

If you can get your hands on a laptop with an ethernet jack, go outside to where your cable enters the home and hook up here. If you still have packet loss, the problem would appear to be on the RR network; if the connection looks good, then the problem could be internal wiring in your home. I had a similar issue with cable t.v. and although the connection was good, the line was split too many times resulting in signal loss. The tech hooked up an amp and I've been running fine since.
