[XP] Scheduled tasks

Maybe I'm missing something.

I upgraded to XP recently, and I can't get the Scheduled Tasks to work. It asks me for a password, something it never did with Win98. I don't remember ever putting a password on the system when I installed XP, but if I try to set up the task without one, I get "The scheduled task did not run because no user account password was entered."

And of course, I tried everything I thought it might be (i.e. passwords I've used recently on different sites), and I get "The scheduled task did not run because an incorrect password or user name was entered."

Re: [XP] Merging two computers

When you upgraded the computer, it should have asked you to specify a password for a user with administrator rights. You probably skipped right past it and set a blank password.

Easy way to fix is create a new user account and add them to the administrators group. Log out, and log back in as the new user. Then open Computer Manager and reset your original password.

Re: [XP] Scheduled tasks

In Xp, task scheduler will not run on an account that has no password. Go to control panel > user accounts > your account > create a password.
