Should have left it alone...

Well, being the inquisitive mind I am, I sorta put myself into a pickle.

I upgraded to the Premier package (because I'm also impatient) and was seeing great upload (almost 512 on the mark every time).

Unfortunately, I barely broke 2 Meg down. Not wanting to be out done I figured I'd call Adelphia to get the skinny. I know speeds aren't guaranteed but come-on, you gotta admit that's a little suspicious.

Anyhoo, I get to a level 2 tech that gets me squared away in no time flat… so we thought.

I ran a few tests and I’m seeing ~2 Meg still, but now ~360 kbps down.

The tech looks a little harder and informs me that my modem config file is set correctly but now the server reports (the config file in the server or something blah blah blah) is at 3 Meg down, 384 kbps up… HAHA.

So now it’s in the hands of a network engineer who apparently will get to it when he gets to it.

DAGNABIT!

I should have just left it but I couldn’t resist.

I'm sure they'll get it fixed, no need to fret over not letting alone, I'm glad I didn't, and I'm sure they wouldn't be offering that Premier Tier if they couldn't support it. I'm still runnin' at full steam here in Nor Cal

Your download speed : 4366177 bps, or 4366 kbps.
A 532.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 470532 bps, or 470 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

YAH YAH!

Your the reason I looked into my download in the first place… haha.

Anyway, I decided to call em again since that whole matter didn't set well with me.

Turns out the last tech used an old boot file that actually configured 3/384; apparently those were going to be the Premier Service speeds before they decided on 4/512.

I'm still seeing ~2 down so the tech felt it's the router servicing me. It's prolly still capped at 2 Meg. I'll give it a week or so.

Question: What kind of download speeds were you getting before you "upgraded" to the new tier?

1500 to 2000 kbps.

Pretty much hasn't change on the download side.

time will tell and i am predicting people will come in here complaining that they arnt getting there full speeds or that there is serious latencety, and hobs will go off on them saying its the people who run all those p2p apps, and itll just throw this forum into a flame war.

but as i said before time will tell.

I hope they get ya going full speed soon, I'd share some of my bandwidth if I could Just keep calling them, and say "I want my bandwidth!", you know like Billy Idol used to say "I want my MTV!" in the MTV intros in the 80's (and yes, I remember when MTV first came on, no old jokes lol).
