Need some help, problems with gaming

I've been using GTE Cable modem since they first offered it in Oxnard. Had lots of problems with high latency and packet loss. Then Adelphia took over and replaced my old Lancity modem and all the problems disappeared. All was good for about a year or so. Now I am getting 5-25% packet loss once again.

I've called tech support numerous times and sometimes they find packet loss but most of the time they tell me everything is fine. I've had a tech come over from Adelphia and he was getting 15% pl doing a ping to www.yahoo.com and told me that I will get pl no matter what and left. This has become very frustrating because I love playing online games but keep getting packet loss and disconnected from the game server. DSL isn't available in my area. I've done many things bought a new nic, new cable modem, new cables, even tried it on a different PC than my own. I've done a ping test to my first hop(10.50.204.1) and lose packets. But when others ping it they don't get any lose of packets. Only when they ping my ip.

Power Level -8 dB

Upstream
Channel ID 7
Frequency 38000000 Hz Ranged
Power Level 41 dBmV

Are you by chance still using the LANCity Non-Docsis modem? If so, call 1-888-adelnet and tell the agent on the phone, they will explain to you what you need to do.

To my knowledge Oxnard was one of the areas that were supposed to swap their LANCity Modems.

Also, in CA several areas have no ping or trace route capabilities, as they have been disabled server side.

I am no longer using the LANCity modem. They swapped out my LANCity for a com21 modem about a year ago or so.
