I will have to try this one I get home. Hopefully just rebooting the modem will pick up the new provising file.

Rebooting didn't do the trick for me. I called them and they sent some file to my modem to change it from the 2000 cap to 3000 cap.

They sent the file, I did a speed test and now I'm in the 3000 range

How's your tweaks?

You might have to raise your RWIN.

MacLeech,
Hob has indicated that calling and requesting reprovisioning now may cause problems later.
Any comments?
It doesn't seem that the calls generated by readers of this board would cause that great of an additional burden on the call center.

Edited to change Jax to Hob - sorry

I wouldn't think it would either. I called up Tuesday Night, and got the new Powerlink Premier Package, and they just upgraded us Monday Night. So far, no bad tracks on my ride, and speeds, well, they're a flyin'

When speed caps migrate for everybody in general, new config files will be used. They won't be the same files everybody has now, maybe not even if they just got the 4000/512 Premiere tier.

This is pure educated speculation on my part. The new provisioning system does some interesting new things which which weren't really possible before and I still getting a handle on it all.

Actually, you were correct in the first publishing. It was I that made mention that when the modems are forced to update to the new tiers, different provisioning files may be used.

With this new system, there are a lot of 'what ifs' still in a lot of our heads.

Heya Mac, I don't know, my download is always in the 2200 range...never reach the caps. I run linux and am behind a BEFSR41 router. When I ran windows, I had it tweaked, yet I still never get much higher than 2200 kbps... I'm just guessing that my node is saturated

EDIT: Here's my latest tweak test: »monitor.dslreports.com/tweak/blo···a=normal

And here are my latest speed tests:

2003-10-17 15:40:54 Speed test
(mia.speakeasy.net) 2137/235 kbps
2003-10-17 15:40:23 Speed test
(mia.speakeasy.net) 1816/240 kbps
2003-10-17 15:39:52 Speed test
(mia.speakeasy.net) 2099/234 kbps
2003-10-17 15:39:24 Speed test
(mia.speakeasy.net) 2241/240 kbps
2003-10-17 15:38:55 Speed test
(mia.speakeasy.net) 1989/231 kbps
2003-10-17 15:38:25 Speed test
(mia.speakeasy.net) 2211/240 kbps

I'm 100% sure that I'm provisioned as 3000/256 not 2000/256, the rep even told me so

Well, can you check my modem? I've been getting these same speeds for like a year, probably before they even rolled out the 2000/256 cap

I just bought a new modem "so I don’t have to pay the 5 dollars a month extra" since im now paying 71.00 a month for internet access. I will not be able to hook it up tonight so I was wondering. When they configure my new modem...will the new congfig files be sent to it? That is if they are available. I can wait until tomorrow to find out but I don’t have the patience to wait that long.

Still 3000/128 here. Thankfully the stability has improved a lot since the "upgrade" of our systems earlier this week. It was really touch and go between the 4-day outage 2 weeks ago and Monday this week.

The good thing is, I've not been completely DOWN except for when the upgrade was done since the outage. And, I have to say, tech support has always gotten done what I needed done when I've called.

BTW, I will say again, if you don't have a SB5100, and your area can support it, GET IT. I have never purchased a more outstanding product.
