| reply to Mrdredd Re: Speeds Crawling in SouthFL
I don't understand this...Everytime I hear something's going on up there, whether it be disabling ICMP, reprovisioning, latency spikes, slow speeds, whatever, how come I never experience any of that?
I have never had any of those problems you guys are having over there, and yet I'm only a couple towns south. Am I on a different system, different CMTS probably? -- - Steve Bularca |

| reply to Mrdredd Finally, after 15 days my high speed connection appears to be back.
2003-10-16 17:48:02 EST: 2159 / 242 Your download speed : 2159961 bps, or 2159 kbps. A 263.6 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 242394 bps, or 242 kbps. Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
I really wish Adelphia would have posted this problem on their network status page! It would have countless calls to Adelphia and computer/modem reboots. |

Seems for me I'm getting 3000/128 with no problem. I have already been upgraded to the new adelphia servers with a new IP address, but still waiting for the 3000/256 upgrade. |

| reply to Mrdredd Here in Boynton Beach it appears that at 2:00 AM we got a new gateway address and a new subnet. Speed after nine days is up to 1800/245 kbps. It would have been nice if once during this period someone from Adelphia had said that "Yes, there is a problem and we are working on it." But, thanks to those who finally fixed it. |

| reply to Mrdredd Hi neighbors in Lake Worth and West Palm. I live in a community of 1600 homes recently upgraded to Powerlink 2way. Since October 8, download speeds have gone to the same level as yours (101 kbps)> I have talked to at least 8 neighbors who are seeing the same performance as you. Here are my speed test results: 2003-10-14 14:00:09 Speed test (ec) 101/244 kbps
2003-10-13 22:55:19 Speed test (mia.speakeasy.net) 100/246 kbps
2003-10-13 13:27:03 Speed test (dslreports.linkline.com) 102/248 kbps
2003-10-12 15:51:00 Speed test (mia.speakeasy.net) 101/119 kbps
2003-10-09 18:20:48 Speed test (dslr-west1.megapath.net) 76/119 kbps
2003-10-09 13:38:19 Speed test (dslr-west1.megapath.net) 31/117 kbps
2003-10-04 13:29:58 Speed test (dslreports.linkline.com) 2810/66 kbps Notice speed on Oct.4 and then after Oct.8. You can also see when the upload speed went to 248 kbps. It sure looks like a localized network problem given the geography of our three cities. If anyone from Adelphia sees this, it would be great to hear your opinion or suggestions. |

I just got off the phone with an Adelphia support rep. It appears they are having trouble with excessive line noise on the equipment servicing our area.
No ETA
It's also not listed on the Powerlink network status page. |

| reply to Mrdredd So im screwed with my 12KB download until atleast next year?
Its the 15th, the upgrades are finished, and my download speed is still only 3KB faster than a damn 56k. and pings are in the 800's most of the time.
Is there gonna be a fix for this SOON as in a couple days, or do I need to drop adelphia, this is bullshit to say the least. -- RackSmart.net |

| reply to Mrdredd Just to give a scope or 'rough idea' of whats going on and some 'numbers'.
Every cable modem has a device that uses a 'public IP'. One in 4 households have a home network.
There are currently close to 1,000,000 adelphia power link users. Theres some 1.25million devices on this network.
If each region moved has only a 3% failover rate... think ofthe number of devices and how much trafic is generated buy this in both calls to the Tac and messages on here.
*I* am surprised things have gone as well as they have. That 3% is actually an inflated number by most calculations of call volume and postings.
A million IP network moved to a totally different platform in such a short time.. Picture having a million computers and having to reboot them all.. LOL!
Sincerely, jAX. |
