Re: Tampa Bay Speed Increases

I'm not in the industry or anything, but just from reading this forum, the notice posted above seems pretty consistent with the wording used by Time Warner in response to bandwidth questions in other areas, too.

So while I too will be very disappointed if Bright House doesn't give us the increase (ESPECIALLY UP!!!), I don't think this rather vague comment from corporate is any indication, good or bad. And it does suck we're last!!! >:P

They were going to do it, from what I understand there's some concern about commercial customers who pay good money for that bandwidth now. There also going to raise the upstream as well to 768k. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but it's still being worked out. And no, the update that happened a few weeks ago with all the modems was supposed to be the update but it was cancelled at the last minute, they did update the modem.bin files but it was for something else. It's still being worked on, at least in Tampabay. But thats all I know

Agreed, if brighthouse is not getting on the 3mbit bandwagon I will be looking for a new isp pretty quick as they wont be the fastest around anymore.

tampabay.rr.com brighthouse user, still 2mbps.... toady is oct 3.

Might have to start researching DSL alternatives, sure it may be slower, but at least I should have no limit cap (besides xfer speed) and save some cash for christmas time :P

I got a reply from Birmingham Brighthouse, and the reply is simular to the post Evade has, saying that they're currently "evaluating", but "no deployment date has been set"

I'm thinking that it may take a little bit longer for us on Brighthouse than those on Time Warner, but it will happen eventually. Brighthouse won't be looked upon too kindly when everyone else on Road Runner has 3mpbs except for their 5 or so locations. If not that I'm sure the constant complaints and whining for better speed may help =).

Stop making misleading thread titles Use a question mark in the title if its a question and not a statement.

I'm wondering if anyone on a Bright House Networks system has had their speed increased to 3Mbps?

Well, I sent an e-mail off to the Birmingham affiliate earlier this evening, but your post pretty much confirms my suspicions. I guess I can stop waiting now.

nvm, just read the above post, doesn't apply to me since Brighthouse isn't my cable provider..

But swfla.rr.com got the speed upgrade so some of the SE has been upgraded..

Well, someone here in Central Florida sent an email asking about the speed increase and this is the response.

"Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your Road Runner Speed. Road
Runner of Central Florida is not offering the increase of bandwidth at
this time. At Bright House Networks, we are always looking for
opportunities to enhance our products and services in order to offer the
latest in new technology to our customers. Bright House Networks is
reviewing future potential network speed enhancements, but has no
announcement regarding speed changes for our Internet customers at this
time."

So, It doesn't look too good for us on Brighthouse Networks.

I changed my mask and nobody seems to care.

Okay, just wondering, cause I want my bragging rights for 3000 down!

Tampa Bay Roadrunner people are getting the bump to 3000 down, right? Just wondering, cause we're still on 2000 down.

EDIT: I just noticed on the network status page from 1 to 5 AM tomorrow that they're doing "scheduled maintenance in every area in every county"... could it be a speed-up?
