Cable light goes blinky blinky, no connecting - NY

Yesterday my cable light started fast blinking, no data light, and all tech sup could say is we'll send a technician (thursday). Meanwhile i'm on dialup, how awful right? I tried a tip from the ELN support forum about unplugging to coax cable, to no avail. booting modem does nothing.

A bit OT, but i just got the new TWC DVR and its amazing!!! I love it!

Generally, a fast flashing cable light denotes a provisioning error. Is this a new modem? if so, its possible the tech installed your MAC (xxxx.xxxx.xxxx) wrong in the system. Just call the local office and ask if they've done so properly. If this is the problem, its an easy and quick fix. Cheers...mike

I'm not sure if I'm having the same problem as you but on my router, the lights blink really fast too (I think it was the light for data but I'm not sure) but the ports connected to my PC isn't blinking and I have no connectivity. Any suggestions?

*Sorry to poop on this thread (if i am) as it seem like I'm having the same problem as you.

My cable light was going crazy on Saturday with periods of fast blinking, slow blinking, or no light. The problem corrected itself after half a day.

Hmmm at least it's not only me but I don't know if the problem in my area is corrected yet...

It turns out when I talked to a TWC rep about getting their new DVR (like TIvo) they changed some codes that disabled my cable modem, and when I called for tech support they didnt see the problem although i was later told it was obvious and visible on my account. Took 2 days to fix and had a technician come out to swap a modem for no reason. I got 2 days credit and a month free for a pay channel. Idiots.

hence...a provisioning-type error. In certain issues like for example when u don't pay your bill they send a bad bin file to your modem effectively disabling it. A situation such as this will create a fast flashing cable light. A quick "hit" (sending a good bin file) fixes the issue lickedy-split. Replacing the modem for such an issue is an interesting solution.

Well you can also just delete the bad file and replace it with a good file, I dunno, LOL..
