need for speed

Aside from the fact I can think of quite a few things to do with that bandwidth (kernel.org mirror?) and know of some places I could send to at full line-speed it isn't going to happen. The network is probably being built with upgradeability and future-proof in mind.

They'll be lucky if they see 10/10 mbits at first.

However, if you are going to build a fiber network for such a small town why use a PON network?
