Finished PC build list.......Please advise!

Ok, here is my list that I spent the last couple weeks putting together. This is for my pc build. I want to thank everyone here in the forum that helped answer all my questions. I would appreciate any advice for my list. I know I don't have a DVD player/burner on the list. I do not watch DVD's on my pc, and will be backing up with imaging software. I also don't have a floppy on my list. I have a floppy on my current pc, and have never used it. Also, I will not be overclocking.
Thanks again!!

I'd hold off on the Audigy 2. Try the on board sound and see if you like it.

Thanks for the info Kilroy. I was kinda thinking that myself. I did read an article in the August issue of maximum pc magazine. They compared my motherboard to five others. It was actually the P4C800 Deluxe they tested. They said it beat all the other motherboards in benchmark testing, except in the onboard sound. Maybe the sound is better on the P4C800-E Deluxe? I was always under the impression that onboard sound was never as good as a sound card. Might be an un-educated assumption though.

either that or get the OEM Audigy for around 70 on newegg...you don't need the retail fancy stuff..same card, no pretty box and bundles

looks great!...IMO, you will get better sound no matter what from that Audigy vs. onboard sound, but I'm picky that way

kchaz, will that OEM Audigy come with everything I need? I did see the OEM, and it is cheaper. Just wanted to make sure I don't have to go out and buy something extra for it that it didn't come with.

i dont think it comes with anything other than the card and the cable...i think you have to get the drivers from creative's site and have them ready ...but either way, the OEM is the way to go with that card

il look into it

Cool thanks. I did notice when I click on "see it" at the new egg site, that the retail audigy shows a cable that the OEM doesn't.

ok..looks like that OEM comes with the drivers (update afterward from creative's site though)...BUT you'll need to get the 4 pin "CD-in" cable that runs from the sound card to the CR-ROM

Yeah I noticed that the OEM comes with a CD, which I assumed were drivers of some kind(probably outdated). Looks like you are paying the extra money for basically the cable then with the retail version.

I had a quick question, what is the difference between the RAM listed in my list above, and the RAM listed below?

Thanks....Keizer

well, the part numbers are different, and that means something, but what? ...hmmm, maybe someone else will know...or on Corsair's site, maybe you can search with those part numbers and you can find that out too...could be as simple as the heatspreaders being a tad different too

Low Latency, is the only wording that is different in both sets of RAM. Oh, and the price is alot higher for the low latency set! What is low latency?

Maybe a marketing plot?

It used to be that onboard sound was not as good as a sound card. Now it is very difficult to find a motherboard without built in sound. While I'm sure the Audigy 2 will sound better it is questionable if you will notice the difference. I've been using the built in sound on my Asus P4G8X board and it works fine, both for gaming and music.

yeah..i tried out the XMS corsair but it didnt like my board too much (IC7-G , Abit)...I ended up getting a gig of Corsair's "Value" Ram, DDR400, and it's latency is on the :high" end, but I still have awesome memory bandwidth, and fantastic bench scores and game play

Also, when i do video editing it's fantastic as well, but im sure lower-latency means a bunch to some people that want the most from their RAM...you coud also go into BIOS later and fiddle with the latency to see if you could get it lower too

R_Kilroy is right too...for me, onboard sound is a great fall-back if your sound cards goes out...also, with my board, the onboard sound has had probs (hissing and crackles) not sure about the Asus board, but again, I'm picky about my sound, so i went with the audigy...have yet to try my onboard sound, but sure it would be fine too:)

Thanks Kilroy, I will think on that some more. I feel like I didn't scrimp on my speakers, so I want to try and go for the best sound possible.
