I believe that is the price if someone currently not a customer calls up and wants to get satellite Internet.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we have any information yet about upgrades for current DW4000 users. Surely it will be quite a bit less than $600. -- Bragging: DirecWay SRS BE Satmex5 117 1250 MHz, v4.0.3.9 SPC, Via EPIA Mini-ITX 533 MHz 256MB, Win2k SP4, WinRoute Pro, Red Hat Linux, Mozilla browser, OpenOffice.org; terrific wife & kids, live on a farm by Big Creek. |

| I sure hope so. I wanted to upgrade and filled out the upgrade information with DirecWay but then I saw that 600.00 and it didn't state exactly what it was for and quickly got the upgrade outta my mind. Thanks for the link, Mike.

Since the software is on the modem itself, am I correct in thinking that this will be a non-tweakable setup? Will the RWIN and other DrTcp settings on a computer actually be used by the modem? What about the max connections setting in the registry? PetDude? -- Hughes-SRS-G11,1370-Host/XP Pro/Athlon 1000-Client/98SE/Intel 166mmx laptop-Proxy on |

If you go back to the myDirecway website and look at the page, there's a link in the middle that takes you to another page and there's a tab for upgrading the modem. You can fill it out and you will be notified when it's available. What I read was that you only replace the modem and nothing else. You can still use the same dish. It will use ethernet cables. -- Direcway SRS; ver. 4.0.3.9 Patch A,B,& C, registry tweak & Dr. TCP; G4R 1350 WinXP; P-4, 512 mgs ram |

Since PetDude hasn't checked in yet, the DW6000, like the DW4020 is pretty much untweakable from what I've heard. Just the LAN tweaks like the LCCU does for the clients. It is (they are) a stand alone modem that is connected to the computers over ethernet cables. No USB connection or host DAK software required. -- I'm going to be a happy idiot and struggle for the legal tender... [text was edited by author 2003-09-30 19:01:00] |

| reply to LINCSAT Yes, but they can do that now on the SRS and DRS systems and you can't change them. I refer to AOL+ being capped to around 600 kbps and the DW CE FAP at 169 megs. -- I'm going to be a happy idiot and struggle for the legal tender... |

| Yes, I know about FAP. So as they cap AOL Plus around 600kbps down they may/can do the same thing with our current setups, IE. | reply to LINCSAT I'm not going to speculate on the future and start rumors, but the system is capable of many types of controls.
Consumers have wanted an all in one box that is OS platform independent for a long time and the DW4020 and DW6000 are to fill this bill. -- I'm going to be a happy idiot and struggle for the legal tender... |

| reply to LINCSAT My Boss is getting the new DW6000 Wednesday. So hopefully I'll have a chance to understand it better. I have also "inquired" about the upgrade for myself. Reading this thread, I understand that it isn't "tweakable." Does that mean I can't do a thing with the Dr.TCP tweaks, or what tweaks can't be touched?
