Is there any way for an end user to configure the dw6000's settings??? Is there extra software needed or i just want to change a few things like turning dhcp off to suit my router better. |

| reply to LINCSAT I just got the e-mail yesterday, but mine says $399 - $100 for return of 4000 equip - $100 for 15 month agreement + $25 shipping and handling. $225 just to upgrade, no. The really sucky thing is though right now with the 4000 on the USB on a Gateway PII 300 and then out to wireless, the speed sucks for anything outside of that main Gateway. I want the damn ethernet interface to bypass that computer!! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the price to go down or find one for sale somewhere. GGRRRRR!!! |

What a ripoff for the dw6000. Maybe if it were 100.00 I'd consider it. I can't wait for the day when fixed wireless hits my area, then I can destroy my direcway equipment so it can't contaminate the rest of the population. |

Don't see what all the fuss is about. Why would it be considered a good deal to pay that kind of money to replace the DW4000 which works just fine. Unless you're into having to have a new gadget to play with - I'll stay with my DW4000 that is already paid for. |

@cdw.com | reply to Techless I just received an email from direcway, for early upgrade adoption! $499 for unit, with a $100 refund when i return my old 4000 and another $100 credit if I agree to extend 15 months |

| reply to jslide The price for the upgrade to the DW600 may not be set in stone yet. Excessive interest and "pressure on them to get it done" may just convince them to charge more for it. I say wait and see. Don't beg, just wait. Most of us have the quite tweakable DW4000, they will have to show me why I should fork over any amount to "upgrade" to a system totally within their control. I already have a system over which I have atleast a bit of control. -- DW SRS G4R 970 4.2.1.10 GW 66.82.156.41 XP PRO ICS Wired & 802.11B Here in Sunny So. Fla. |

| reply to LINCSAT After seeing a redesigned My DirecWay website with emphasis on the DW6000, I again called DirecWay sales and got the same "no date, no nothing" answer. The sales rep also admitted that lots of people have been calling with this question.
So here's an idea, if you feel so motivated. Call them up and ask! Maybe a lot of calls will put pressure on them to get it done. Couldn't hurt! I usually punch my way to sales through the 1-800-direcpc number. |

No date on upgrades though he said they are trying to install all remaning DW4000's first and build up inventory. |

| reply to teppy Actually I am surprised it was only 455. If that is the most you can get in an auction situation, with people bidding each other up, for the opportunity to get a pre (upgrade) release item, it seems that RUMORED 425 list price might be a bit high.
Meanwhile you are right about that guy's feedback.. big warning bells going off there. And who even knows if you can upgrade to the 6000 just by switching it out at this time?

I can't believe someone paid that much either. It makes me wonder how someone got a hold of the modem in the first place without the whole setup. If the seller didn't have such negative feedback, I would swear it was DW trying out the market to see if they could get this much for the modem. I feel like emailing the buyer to see if its real or not. Either way, it could be bad if marketing finds out that people are paying this much on ebay. -- DW4000 G4R WinXP IE6 |
