Re: Connection Manager and McAfee VirusScan

Yep, McAffee thinks a script that Connection Manager runs is malicious. Its not, of course, it just verifies that all your mail settings are correct, but alas, McAffee persists. Really, the best idea is to uninstall Connection Manager. That should resolve the conflict. its listed in Add/Remove Programs (in the Control Panel) as "SBC/Yahoo! DSL".

Thank you all--the uninstall worked just fine!

And did you uninstall Broadjump while you were at it? Don' know why all software writers feel they have the right to watch what you are doing hidden in the bushes.......

@snet.net

I use SBC Yahoo DSL and this morning I'm getting the tsoe.vbs error from Norton Antivirus that is being spoken of in this topic. I'm a little nervous about uninstalling Broadjump and Connection Manager as suggested... This will not affect my connection or my networked connections?

You're not really specific with the information in your setup, but...

If you're running an OS other than Windows XP or Mac OS X, you'll need the Enternet PPPoE client that comes on the install disc, or another PPPoE client.

So you can remove EVERY piece of SBC installed software except Enternet, and with Windows XP and Mac OS X, you can even remove those.

Now, if yo uhave a router, you can remove the PPPoE client no matter the OS.

Sorry that I couldn't be more direct.
