Just wait til it's fixed (if it ever is) then demand your refund for the days it was out. There's no way you should have to debate over a refund. If they're not providing the service you're paying for than there's no way in hell they can charge you for it.

I've been calling them every day since the problem started (Sunday the 17th around 1PM) to try to find out what the problem is and when it will be fixed. The first 4 days they were saying it was the worm and the last 6 a gateway is screwing up.

I find it ridiculous for it to have been 10 days and they can't even give an ETA of when it will be fixed. I'll stick it out for a while longer and hopefully they'll get it back the way it should be soon.

With DSL prices being so low lately you'd think they'd be a little more on the ball about taking care of problems quickly. Especially in our area where they're nowhere near the only game in town.

Just got off the phone again. Customer service insisted that outage didn't occur until the 21st. I totally disagreed and was upset, because the internet was down since early on the 18th. At least it is a little better now, but doing day to day activities, such as surfing the web, is a painful experience. Anyway, debated with the CSR and they ended up refunded part of my bill since the 18th, after 15 mins of discussion. I was also instructed to call on a daily basis for a refund of that days proration. If I did my math correctly, and the wait times are as long as they are normally, then it would probably be a waste of time to call on a daily basis to refund that days' bill.

According to the CSR, there is still no ETA for connection correction. As for my personal belief, I doubt the ontario area problem has anything to do with a new router being installed, but am more inclined to believe that it has to do with over inflated requests from BlasterWorm infected machines.

mine is running well But I notice that certain websites dont work and on IRC i constantly get disconnect but im guessing this is all due to the massive traffic caused by the virus which I believe causes connections to time out

I have been up off and on all day today, the connection has been choppy and slow (800/120), but thats better than not at all like the past few days have been. Things are slowly getting better, I am in Montclair so Im on same main network. As for it beeing local thing , like the teck help has been telling people that hold for 30+min, Im not to shure about that, there are a few other posts on the fourm with the same problem in other parts of the country. Adelphia's backbones are probaly just overloaded with all the current worm traffic, but with all the ports they are blocking now it looks like they are slowing the problems.

I've spoken to a level 2 tech on the 19th, and they've been working on it since the 18th; seems like they are installing new router or something, but i doubt that it would take more than half a day to do that. After complaining to them numerous times, they offered to reimburse for the 3 days of outages, anyone in the Ontario actually successfully connected to their network?

Here's the info I got.

There is a trouble ticket associated with this problem on the ontario, CAlifornia adelphia network. If you live there, be sure to call the local office and request that they open up a trouble ticket for you. Make SURE that the ticket reads as such that you were being affected by this problem since August 18th. That's when the associated problem, and documentation first appeared for the upland, ontario area. After you get the ticket, keep the number of the ticket. When the problem is resolved, call the local office again, and ask that they refund your money for the time it was down. They will reimburse you for the days that you were affected.

As for the previous post, it does appear that users on this network who have not updated their systems, are sending out massive amounts of traffic because their systems are affected, thus causing us all to suffer.

Other than this problem, I have never had a problem with adelphia, and I am loving my 3Mb down/256Kb up

If it will ever be restored to it's full glory, then I'll continue service. It would take a serious life tragedy to get me to change back to horrible dsl services.

"when a router is running at 100% utilization (from continous pings) no one gets online."

Methinks this might be taking up the bandwidth needed to send those tftp/bootp files to modems making them appear to have 'no synch'

Has anyone done there homework on the Blaster worm ???
Because from the comments I would have to say no! The worm infects isp customers not the isp. The people in the area have not taken the time to properly protect their pc's and now the worm is making their own computers bring down the network with continous ping bombing of adelphia's routers -- ie.. when a router is running at 100% utilization (from continous pings) no one gets online.

Same here in Chino Hills (Chino). I am posting this with my 56k connection, and it is much more stable (no more typing in address, waiting 1 minute for browser to respond as with cable).

Service has been very spotty for the past 3 - 4 days. I believe lots areas are affected. Can anyone from Adelphia explain how exactly is the worm affecting our service?

August 30th? Ouch! When I've called up Adelphia for a tech to come out, they always have him out either the next day or the day after that, my local office is in Ukiah, CA.
