| quote: Cablevision's new rates put it more in line with Time Warner Cable. Customers with cable TV service from Time Warner Cable pay $44.95 per month for Road Runner service, while those without cable service pay $59.95.
If OOL decides to get in line with Time Warner for non-video customers, I'm outa here... |

| reply to drewsclue72 i doubt cablevision will every make it 60 a month. Even if they did, its still 10x better then comcast and roadrunner. In the next 5 years i see fiber optic taking over the scene anyway |

| reply to drewsclue72 I don't think I will pay more then $50 a month for OOL, I love the speeds but anything higher then that will be out of my fundings for what I use it for. Sorry OOL but the line has to be drawn somewhere. -- My Old Job Morbid Crap Forum Posts:1590 |

$70 per month for 768/128 from verizon or $50 per month for 10000/1000 from OOL
seems like OOL is still a better value to me even if i didn't get a discount for television service. |

No, it's $35 for 1500/128 from Verizon ($30 if you have their unlimited telephone service). And you get free web space. -- "We know where they are." » Donald Rumsfeld on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, March 30, 2003. |

| #1 i don't qualify for anything faster than 768/128 just like the majority of people in verizons service area. so like i said its 768/128.
#2 verizon requires you get phone service with them in order to get DSL so i consider that $35 per month to be part of the service since it is REQUIRED and i do not currently have any POTS.
like i said $70 per month for VOL768/128 or $50 per months for OOL10000/1000.
sorry but i look at the WHOLE picture and verizon has strings attached that should be included in the service cost while OOL is a 100% independent product. |

| Sorry, but you need a math lesson. Verizon POTS service is only $16 per month. That's what my phone bill is every month. -- "We know where they are." » Donald Rumsfeld on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, March 30, 2003. |

Yeah, I think mine is about $15. Definitely not $35 though. Plus the percentage of people in CV's area that have Verizon phone service is very high, so that logic would be null and void for them. -- Ken Lay got the surplus! |

any numbers for that? lots of people may have a verizon *line* but there are many CLECs like at&t and MCI who are much cheaper then rip-off verizon, i'd be willing to bet a very large number of telephone subscribers in OOL territory use a CLEC, especcialy those who are considering switching from OOL to DSL for money reasons. |

| reply to drewsclue72 yeah on good morning america they said about the price hike for CV.. lol let them keep it up and when the people start leaving they are going to wonder why.. I wonder if they are trying to ease up on the price like the stupid post office.. I swear they wanted to get the stamps to be $1.00 for one envlope.. And I feel OOl they want to get the price near or over $100.. Shame on you! -- Puerto Rico's Official travel site Visit my Picture gallery |

" Merrill Lynch analyst Jessica Reif Cohen said the new rate increase shows that Cablevision is counting on features other than price to compete and is not retreating on its strategy."
Let's see, crappy email, crappy news server, no free webpage, and no free dialup when either you have your monthly outage or are away from home.
Yea that analyst sure is right, OOL really makes up for the price increase with all those great extra features. Next they'll be charging full price for the modem up front and calling that a "feature". |

It's a better value for people who care about speeds. I just want to wake up in the morning and have the service working. They can have the speed, just make the service work.
I hate when people try to make excuses for the crappiness of the service based soly on speed only. A broadband connection should offer speed AND reliability. -- [BetaNews | phpBB |MSN TerraServer |Space Imaging] |
