Places to buy digital cameras

Hi All,

I am looking to buy the Canon A70 as my first digital camera. I have looked at a lot of reviews and specs, and have decided that this is a good camera.

I've also been around and hunting for the best prices for this. Comparing a lot of places and CERTAINLY online is the way to get the cheapest prices. Here in Canada the a70 is selling for $500 plus tax...that's around $425 USD!

I found an online store, Ecost.com, and they seem to be offering great prices. $268 for the A70. And the good thing about this store (from what I have seen) is that they have the border-free thing for Canadians so it's hassel free. On top of that, free shipping. They are also selling 128MB CF for $17 after rebate!

The thing though is that I've read online store reviews and the feelings are pretty much mixed for this store. the good stories are great, and bad stories are really bad. There is a Canadian review, and it was a positive one. Has anyone have any buying experience from them?

If not, can you recommend a place for me to buy the A70 at pretty cheap prices and ships to Canada?

Thanks.

Re: Places to but digital cameras

It's not worth it to buy cameras and other expensive merchandise from American vendors if you live in Canada. Shipping and Customs brokerage fees and Dollar exchanges eat up any savings you might have, plus if there is anything wrong with the merchandise, you're stuck shipping it back across the border out of your own pocket and you'll have absolutely no warranty on a camera that isn't purchased from an authorized Canadian dealer.

Save yourself the grief and buy it here from a Canadian vendor.

here's one good place to start looking.

$471.50 CDN for the exact model you were asking about.

Are you sure about the warranty? I just looked at the warranty card that came with my A60 and it states: Canon PowerShot Digital Camera Limited Warranty for USA and Canada only.

Everywhere in the warranty it states USA and Canada.

Norman Camera. »www.normancamera.com/shop/Search···tock=a70 I've bought from them, and recommend them very highly. $299 US $$. You will get a real person on the phone. Large family business. Friendly personal service, fast delivery. They are in MI, close to Canada, but I don't know about what Happyrat is saying, but this may save you enough money thru Norman.
