| Windows Explorer Internet access in ZAP 4 I know this question has been asked before, but I can't find an answer to my particular problem. I just installed ZAP 4 and Windows Explorer asks for Internet access. I had this in previous versions of ZAP, so before I would just deny access and surf like nothing was up, but now if I deny access it won't connect to the Internet. zap1 image is if I start IE closed and Windows Explorer is not in the program section of ZAP. zap2 image is if IE is open and I try to connect after deleting Windows Explorer from the program section of ZAP. Either way, if I deny access I can not get on the Internet. I guess I would like to know if it is either ok to allow these, or if there is a work around? Or should I go back to 3.5, because 3.7 does the same thing?
My OS is, Win2K Version 5.00.2195 SP 3 IE Version 5.50.4929.2200
BTW, I don't have UPnP installed and BrowseNewProcess was set to yes already.
Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated.

So it should be fine. |

Yes, normally when you enable Advanced Program Control, ZAP sets certain core Windows programs to have the ability to use other programs to access the network. Windows Explorer is one of those. I leave it set to allow on my system.
Keep in mind that Windows Explorer is not actually accessing the network it is merely the parent of the IE session in this case. -- Use the most powerful combo Firewall/AV/AT package available - "Common Sense" - It can be upgraded daily! |
