| It will definitely help! Your downstream tends to go to hell when you're uploading at full speed. If you've got the 256kbps upload, you can continue uploading at 128 and not have your downstream degrade. There have also been reports of ping time decreases on the 256kbps upstream package.

only me, as I read this new SBC Yahoo! DSL Deluxe Package link, the only part of this price plan restricted to new subscribers concerns the rebate checks:
**Rebate check available only to new subscribers. After your SBC Yahoo! DSL order request is processed, you will receive a rebate check for $99 from SBC Internet Services. Offer expires 7/1/03.
***Available only to new subscribers. The modem charge will appear on the first bill along with any corresponding and offsetting credits. Offer is available for a limited period of time and is subject to change without notice. In addition, the only expiration date that I find specified is for the rebate portion of the plan. The new price offering of $39.95/month for a one-year contract does not have a defined expiration date, but only a vague - "Offer is available for a limited period of time"!
My question is am I missing something here or are the terms of that new price plan listed in that link in error? |

The defined date (ending 6-30)is the information I received (like you quoted "is available for a limited time").. Like everything else in this company it is subject to change.. 
As far as offering this to existing customers I am still waiting for an official response.. I would hate to post that is being offered and then you call in and find out that it is available to existing customers only (and yes that happens often)... so please check back.. I will let you know as soon as I find out.. I post these rates ect to benefit you guys so trust me if I can get these rates for everyone I will.. its just right now I dont want to make promises I cant keep..

only me,
I was just seeking clarification and not trying to put you on the "spot". Believe me, I appreciate your informative posts here. I wasn't interested in re-rating if it was available to existing customers, but I am interested to know if that new price will continue for for some indefinite time into the future or will cease on 7-01. |

I have the 1.5 down and 128 up.
I called them about the "upgrade" and they said I
could upgrade to the 1.5 down and 256 up speed
for 10.00 dollars more per month which would total
39.95 per month. I pay 29.95 because of the
other phone services I get from SBC SNET |

Ok, I saw this thread yesterday, but didn't comment because I've seen these sorts of statements before, but they never panned out. I've had Southwestern Bell DSL since April, 2001. I signed up for a one-year contract at that time, and have never recommited. This time it seemes really...real. If I recommit to a one year contract, I can stop paying $50 a month and start paying $29.95? |
