| reply to bmr12 I've not gotten any notification yet, either.
On a possibly-related note, I have been experiencing intermittent connections during past 3 days (I'm in Los Angeles/Hollywood area). ATTBI's tech support (way~ out in Newfoundland, Canada) pledged that they are not making transitions to Comcast at this time and, therefore, that would not be the reason for this service interruption.
I know that we (in Los Angeles/Hollywood area, and being ex-MediaOne.net subscribers before ATTBI took over) are in the IP range of 24.126.x.y ~ 24.130.x.y. And when running traceroute, it shows hops thru 24.126.x.y and 24.130.x.y range, but always would eventually go thru 12.119.9.5 (e.g. this is the gateway out of ATTBI portion of the network). Then it would hop thru AT&T's IP network before transitioning to other carriers' networks on the way to the final desination.
Interesting thing during past several days of connection problem is: I could always ping everything out to 12.119.9.5. Anything beyond that would be intermittent - even ATTBI's DNS (ns1.attbi.com ~ ns10.attbi.com).
Now, if I was a ATTBI's network engineer trying to transition the Southern California portion of ATTBI's network (from rest of AT&T's IP network) over to Comcast, I'd be making the change right at 12.119.9.5 or a hope beyond that one.
Coincidence? May be, may be not. I'd like to hear from other ATTBI subscribers in Southern California regarding connection status during past 3 days.
Thanks,
RY |

| reply to jrushing Like others, I haven't gotten any notification of the change, nor the $21/month price increase I'll be suffering shortly. (I paid for year's worth at $35.95 before the *last* price increase).
Utterly amazing that they cannot communicate effectively with their customers at least via email. |

Sincerely,
AT&T Broadband
so the new modem came and after i set it up and went to the registration page »https://sas.r5.attbi.com it was a Comcast page. i entered my account number and reg code per the instructions in the letter i received with the modem and the system came back and said it could not locate that account number. tried again same result. then the page changed and informed me that the modem had been registered. everything seemed to be working fine, could browse to other website. used it all last night with no problems go figure... -- i never experimented with drugs. i knew what i was doing... |

| reply to Weasel I got a call 3 days ago about trying out COmcast cable, telling me that I could get it for a try for 19.95 per month. If I did try, I could also get a special for internet. There were going to have some trucks in my area because of all the peopel signing up!
I told the person I have been a user of ATT for over 2 years and if I could still get the special. He told me to hold on while he looked up my phone number (which he just called) and said, yes you are a subscriber to both. I asked for the special pricing and he appologized and said no.
Funny thing. He had access to my account through the phone number he just called. He should have known.
I wish I could have gotten a deal anyway since I was a subscriber in good standing, but NO...... |

| reply to Weasel I haven't received any kind of official notification either! I see the adds and all, but nothing pertaining to my account. In fact, when I ordered basic cable last week, I did so on-line at the ATT Broadband site. The truck of course said AT&T, and the printed company name on my Work Order is, AT&T Broadband! No mention of Comcast.
The only indication I have gotten was when I went on line to view Support and Information pages about my Cable TV, instead of Attbi, I was redirected to Comcast, where I had to register.
They obviously don't have it all together as far as this transition goes. But on the other hand, who cares? As long as everything keeps working - the bottom line! |

| reply to Weasel Here is an e-mail I received yesterday, February, 26, 2003:
Dear Comcast High-Speed Internet Customer
As you may know, AT&T Broadband is now a part of Comcast, a leader in cable TV and broadband services. Over the next couple months, customers who currently receive AT&T Broadband Internet will be moved to Comcast High-Speed Internet. There will be an ample transition period, including email forwarding, discussed in upcoming communications.
Effective with your first bill after March 10, 2003, the price structure for your Comcast High-Speed Internet will change. An explanation of this price change is as follows:
The monthly Internet service fee for customers who subscribe to Comcast High-Speed Internet service and do not subscribe to Comcast cable video service will change from $46.95 to $56.99. The monthly Internet service fee for customers who subscribe to Comcast High-Speed Internet and any level of Comcast cable video service will remain at $42.95. Cable modem lease fees will remain at $3 per month and will continue to be charged in addition to the monthly Internet service fee for those customers who do not own their modem. Our records indicate that you currently subscribe to Comcast High-Speed Internet service but do not subscribe to Comcast Cable or Comcast Digital Cable. We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce our wide range of programming to you. We offer Basic Cable, including local channels, for as low as $4 for your first 4 months of service* all the way to explosive Digital Cable packages, including up to 200 channels, at great prices. Your monthly Internet service fee will also actually be reduced from $46.95 to $42.95 upon ordering any level of cable video service.
Simply call 1-888-824-8552 today to
order the cable video service of your choice.
Our goal is to provide you with the best high-speed cable Internet and cable video service available and we believe that we continue to offer the best value in the market today. If you have any questions or concerns about these changes or if you are interested in learning more about Comcast Cable or Digital Cable, please call our customer care representatives at 1-888-824-8552.
Sincerely,
Comcast
* After the promotion period the regular monthly service rates will apply. Equipment and other fees may apply. Call Comcast at 1-888-824-8552 for complete pricing and programming details. Certain restrictions apply. |

***THE MIGRATION TO COMCAST EMAIL HAS NOT STARTED YET!!!***
We, (meaning tech support) haven't even been told when the email switch is being done. So, calling us is only going to get you a "You will get notifaction by either email, or snail when it is time to switch over to comcast email"....why is that, cause THAT is the only information that we have.
Relax, it will happen when it happens... it is all about patience....

| reply to Weasel I'm in the same boat that you are. I have not gotten any e-mail, phone calls, etc about the switch over.
I have also NOT gotten any information about a price increase for the HSI side of things. I am still paying only $45.95 (per the statement I got yesterday in the mail). I do not have cable tv, but I do have digital phone via AT&T.
The only thing that I have seen (found this link in another thread), is this:
»online.comcast.net/help/connect.asp#f
Item #6 ---------------------------------------- When will my service be transitioned to Comcast High-Speed Internet? The transition process will begin be based on where you live. We should begin to transition a market-by-market approach from February through April of 2003. You will be notified 30 days prior to when you need to transition. -------------------------------------------------------
So, I'm guessing that between now and April we will hear something. Knowing that it is already the end of February, they only have 2 months to do this....and if they are suppose to give you 30 days notice, then my guess is that we won't physically get moved to comcast till April.
