[7-9] Performa cant perform!!!!!!

Friend of mine has a Performa...........b4 my mac time, so how can he hook it up to a new Hp Printer that is USB only.........he describes a port which he says "looks like Firewire".but obviously canno't be, I'm assuming its a Mac , non PC standard serial port, if so ,is there a Mac serial to USB adapter available?????

If it has a pci slot (Performa 6400 and above, I believe), try this.

It's the other way around; adding USB to a serial Mac.

I would just slap in a PCI card... you will be hard pressed to find a Serial to USB adapter anywhere.

My Performa 475 died recently after ~9 years of valiant service. It is survived by a Personal LaserWriter 300 which is t*ts on a boar to my new Power Mac (Serial Killer) G4. Maybe your friend would like to trade printers?

I was just kidding. I didn't think the guy would really want to trade a new printer for a 7 or 8 year old printer.

Of course, it's an APPLE printer.
