Hm... I've seen inside the Telephone NID before, but I always wondered what was inside a Television NID (we have one at our house, and at our business). It seems just a simple box, for housing the splitters (unlike the Telehpone NID which has those built-in jacks)

| reply to seejaywhy Actually that is not a T-1 nid. That is what is referred to as a DAML.
It allows for multiple dial tone over a single pair of copper, used in applications where copper pairs are in short supply. Trouble with these is that the technology does not allow for the use of high frequency services, such as ADSL.
A T-1 would be terminated into a dedicated mounting which would house the "smart jack", that the telco uses to convert the signal back to a traditional T-1 signal to be used by the subscriber and also provide loopback test capabilty. |
