| Earthlink Total Access 2003 ate my favorites icon
Hey guys.. I have to say first and foremost, I have been on EL DSL now for about 2 - 3 weeks (convert from DirectVDSL.. and I have been very pleased with the service.. No service problems thusfar for me!
Now the bad part... Not too bad just a lil annoying.. I installed Total Access 2003, to see if they had any useful programs I needed, when I did, all my Internet Explorer favorites, and even in the address bar lost the IE icon. Now they all have the little icon like you get when windows dosen't know the program associated with the file. if I manually go in and change the icon back to the IE icon, it will stay, but I have to do that for each and every one, including any new favorites I add.
I have since uninstalled Total Access, and attempted to reinstall IE SP 1 to see if that would rest them but no luck. my next step was to try and reinstall IE completly, but wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions before I went that route.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.

»IE 6.0 & Total Access 2003 question
So far, I personally do not see a need for Total Access. More trouble than its worth.
What OS are you using? Do you have any system restore capabilities? [text was edited by author 2003-01-25 21:04:18] |

| I Looked at that thread once before.. but will take another look and see if there is any updated information...
I am Using Windows XP, and IE 6. I agree, I uninstalled Total Access because I never used it nor saw any need for it. I did make a restore point before I installed Total Access, but now the only catch is I have installed other software since that time and don't want to loose it by going back to that restore point.. Like I said, it's not that big of a deal, just a little annoyance, but I can live with it as long as the connection stays good
Just wanted to see if anyone else had run into that problem.

| Perhaps one of the Earthlink techs. who monitor and post here can help you.
I see you tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE SP1, but have you tried the IE repair option?

| Skj... Thanks for reminding me about the repair option. I just tried that and it appears to have worked. Woohoo!!! When I first started trying I forgot to go back to Control Panel and do it from there, I was looking for a actual Repair button in IE.. but once I remembered the control panel and went that way, all my icons were restored!
Thanks again for the help |

@mindspring.n | reply to Bountyuga First thing I need to know is does your favorites work correctly when you are not signed in with the total access program?
Have you tried to export the favorites and then import them again? |

Fortunately we have the link to use Pop-up Blocker without having to download the Total Nonsense Access junk. |
