We currently have a T1 through Megapath, which is routed through Newedge networks.
Our contract is going to be up soon and we are in the market. Can I go directly through Newedge and get better service for the same price we have with Megapath? Can it be a seemless conversion over if this is the case?
Please let me know. |

| Mario,
You can switch to any NewEdge ISP serving your area. All you need is a letter of release (or an email) from your ISP and your OMS (Order) number.
Migrations are usually planned well with NewEdge (well ours with them are) and will result in less than 30 minutes downtime while your router is reconfigured.

| If they are your own ARIN assigned IP's then yes, if they belong to Megapath the no you cant keep them.
You would know if they were directly from ARIN.net as it would have taken you weeks to get them issued and routed.
What two WIC cards do you have? both T1? or one ethernet and one T1. Are you running one to one NAT to private IP's on the ethernet side?
NewEdge are fine with cisco configs using frame-relay and ATM, we have a few customers using them. Most use the supplied Netopia 5300 or the NEW Siemens 5940.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

| reply to mariolanning Looks like the blocks are owned by megapath We currently have 30 IP addreses. the cards in the router are T1 WIC cards configured for frame relay but we wanted to shy away from frame relay. Could you provide me with an IP address of a customer you have in Tucson so I may do ping tests to check response times on? We are not happy with Megapath because we have somewhat slow ping times. We cater to large companies and a lot of our prospective customers do testing on our connections. Our DNS servers supply over 2 Billion DNS requests a year. DNS queries are very small packets. At any one given time we supply over 2000 connections a second to web and DNS requests. Uptime is of the utmost with us. We currently have a backup connection with another provider but our primary T1 is out livelyhood. One of the main reasons we went with Megapath is because we refer a lot of customers to them and in return we get a lower monthly cost on the connection. We currently have over 15,000 customers using our services. You may E-Mail me directly if you wish. Pleas message me for the E-Mail address as I do not want to divulge our company name on the forum.

| You can use TransEdge which is the direct ISP of NewEdge. They also have competive prices. And they were featured in Network World this past week for having one of the National Largest and Fastest ATM Backbones. -- 100% ATM Backbone Travelage!(Transedge/NewEdge Style!). |
