why is it that when I install and use Dr. Tcp I open it and save 51100, I have four different listings to save it to.
I show;
SMC EZ CARD 10/100 Pci (SMC 1211 Series)
SMC EZ CARD 10/100 Pci (SMC 1211 Series) #2
Net Adapter
Net Adapter #2
I have 14 of these damn things in my Dr.Tcp save window
can I remove them? I'm sure I don't need them all and do they interupt my speed by over loading my registry....plz help.How do I remove them and what exactly should I see in the save window.... |

Texas | It might be that your network card ,assuming you use ethernet DSL or Cable modem, might need more than just one driver. It won't over load your registry.
(I assume the SMC listings are ethernet cards because it has 10/100 in it.) |

You might be able to find those references in your registry. You might be able to remove them but that will probably cause more pain and havoc then its worth. I suggest just apply the settings to one of those devices.
 As for those of you who recommended other sites we don't support them or condone them. Simple as that.

It sounds to me like you have a screwed up install of your hardware. Above is a screen capture of Windows Control Panel; System option; Device Mgr panel; and showing network devices. If your display of this info on your system shows more than 1 ethernet card and 1 dial up adapter, then your system needs fixing by deleting duplicate network adapter entries.

No thats not it at all, alls fine in my device manager! its in dr.tcp.....my device manager only reads the adapters its supposed to.....dr.tpc reads 14...afew of what i posted earlier. |

Here is a patch from speedguide for win/xp that clears out all tweaks in xp registry and resets everything to system defaults.

You can download it, unzip and then execute the registry changes. This might clear up whatever problems that DrTcp is seeing with the registry.

I've got the same issue.
No duplicate entries in the registry or device manager in either normal or Safe Mode.
I simply apply any RWIN, MTU or other changes to the first adapter listed and ignore the rest. Works like a charm.
Would be nice to figure out why they are there, where they came from and how to get rid of them tho!

Sounds like a bug in DrTcp software. Maybe DrTcp in this forum can check it out.

Thanks Lanik. BTW, I tried all versions of DrTCP with the same results on those that would recognize my adapter in Windows XP.

| Press the print screen button next to the F12 key on most keyboards. Open the program you want to take a screen shot of and press alt+print screen and it will only take a picture of the program instead of everything else on your screen. Go to »irfanview.com and download the free program and paste the picture in there. Save it as .gif most of the time and you're good to post.

These are found in your registry. They happen when the card/driver is removed and reinstalled improperly. Sometimes moving the card to a different slot leaves such entries as well. Sometimes upgrading the driver/firmware changes the PnP/PCI ID of the card and windows creates a new entry. In the next version, I'll try to add some code to detect and ignore these older entries in your registry. |
