 DLS questions

Can any of you verify whether DLS works with VPNs? I telecommute and therefore need to connect with work through a tunnel. I currently use Speakeasy with IDSL which works well, but this would be much faster and cheaper (and it sounds like the latency would be about the same). Also, I've heard that weather does not affect the connection. Can anybody confirm that?

Thanks a lot.

It does say in one of their disclaimers that weather nay affect it, but I have yet to have an outage due to weather. As for VPN, they said they don't block any ports, but they don't like people running servers. My SmoothWall router is capable of VPN, but I haven't tried it.

Thanks for the info. I decided to send them an email and ask specifically. I don't need the VPN for running a server, I need it to tunnel into the office for work, so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

BTW, I don't suppose you've had it long enough to comment on whether or not it is affected by snow?

Thanks,
Bob

About a week and a half ago, we had a torrential downpour for about 10 minutes which didn't seem to affect it. Come to think of it, I've only had one incident where it bogged down below the 256 kbps minimum and that was on a sunny day strangely enough, but it was back up to normal in about 20 minutes.
