TO ALL: Need help with networking issues?

Check the FAQs, HOWTOs, and Links on top of this forum before you post for help. Most of the time, the answer(s) to your problem(s) have already been addressed.

Please be as descriptive as you can when addressing your problem(s). The more information you provide, the faster the response you will get from the many wonderful helpers who hang out in Networking forum. Here are some tips when posting in the forum.

1. Catchy Title - Use it well. People will bypass your thread if your catchy title is "Help me" or "Why doesn't it work" or "I have a question" etc.

2. State the required information:

a. Your OS
b. Who is your ISP?
c. What broadband service do you have? (cable, dsl, etc)
d. Is your connection "always on", or do you use a PPPoE
software to connect?
e. The brand name and model of a router if you're using one
f. What is your set up like? (MS ICS, third-party software)

3. Describe precisely what problem(s) you're having. Give as much details as you can. When in doubt, include everything in your post.

The helpers in here come on their own time so please, be polite and treat them the way you'd like to be treated. They're not being paid for this so don't flame them. Don't get all pissed off if your questions aren't answered, or promptly answered.

Lastly, I would like to thank the helpers. You know who you are. Thanks for making the forum a fun learning environment. Thanks for covering my ass when I'm not around. I really appreciate it. Keep up the good work.
