Re: Brick and Morter Stores selling IP Phones Indeed, the J&R listings (except for Ooma) either say phone/online only, or are out of stock altogether.
Folks buy these things online. That's one reason that Best Buy is dying, Circuit City already died....
Staples has never gotten much into VoIP.
Wal-Mart usually has some Skype stuff behind the motor oil and cooking oil.
I guess Fry's is good but it does not exist around here. And PC Richards has high prices.
Silo and The Wiz are both gone....
Online is where it's at.
--------------------
The great tragedy is that Radio Shack could have been HUGE (sorry Donald Trump) selling computers, cellphones, VoIP....
....but they did not effectively followup after the "Trash-80".

| Advantages of B&M: 1) to keep the money in the community, 2) not to pay shipping and have to be at home when Fedex comes and 3) to be able to rely on consumer protection and Small Claims Court.
Examples. 1) I once had a reconditioned Dell PC shipped to me. It was supposed to come with Microsoft Word; it did not. I complained to Dell but got no satisfaction. Nothing more I could do. 2) I bought my first ATA from a local supplier and it did not work. I tried to return it but they refused. I filed a Small Claim complaint. The supplier wrote to me asking me to bring in the ATA for a full refund. Now we are friends. I wish they had IP phones but they don't.
btw spelling is "mortar" not "morter". I'm so embarrassed and I'm going to have to live with this for the rest of my life. |

Wozniak had a prototype Mac with a 5.25 twiggy drive on ebay for 100k. (It didn't sell.) Sotheby's is currently auctioning a functioning Apple I motherboard (1 of only 6 known) for an anticpated price of 180K or better. Keep that TRS-80 in good working order.... |
