 | [HN7000S] https problems? mysterious outages?check you cables After almost a year and 2 tech runs, replacing the modem and dish and transmitter I have finally found my problem BAD cables from the modem to the wall. The tech could not find the intermittent problem with his meter to test the cables and assured me the problem was with the dish which was replaced for free and i still had the problem, which only occurred when I tried to sign on using https connections or facebook. I was cleaning up and moved the modem and noticed the service went completely out then I started playing with the wires and could make it go in and out I replace the cables and have been enjoying problem free service for over a month now!!! |

 | yea, odd about the secure sites, hmmmm.
and i hope you replaced the cable with 3GHZ rated cable or have a fire extinguisher near just in case. |

grohgregDunno. Ask The Chief join:2001-07-05 Dawson Springs, KY | reply to bob441 Did you perhaps have the cables running through one of those coaxial surge suppressors? They cause packet loss which results in retransmissions, which is much more noticeable on SSL and VPN than on regular HTTP.

 | My cable is rg6 is that good enough??? Last night in the hn7000 outage it was out so I redid the cables and did not have it just right (left the shielding inside the wire too long) and it was doing the ssl problems again, fixed the shielding and all seems ok now I just hope the cable is good enough |

 | reply to bob441 Yeah man it should have 3 Ghz on the sheathing of the cable printed on it. But if you used lower it may still work but will not be optimum. Best make sure that its 3 Ghz and if not contact you a Dish installer. (Even the Direct TV and Dishnetwork installers should have the 3 Ghz cable.) Also make darn sure to Dielectric grease and Mocap the outside terminals/screw ends. |

(Even the Direct TV and Dishnetwork installers should have the 3 Ghz cable.) A minor problem with that suggestion might be the center conductor. TV installers often get by with copper coated steel (CCS). Hughes requires solid copper (BC).

 | reply to Just Rachel I'm on 117W, 1050 and mail has stopped working and can't sign in to yahoo, facebook and other sites. Must be Hughes problem. -- Hughesnet/isp.com/HN7000/Satmex5/1050,3 desktops( 1 XP,2 Vista) ,3 laptops, static dish,1 portable dish |

 | well after the system outage the other day my problems came back.I guess the wires had gotten hot again and I thought the problem was on Hughes net end, BUT it was not my coaxial had gotten hot and separated INSIDE the Coaxial end. It would stay online all day then when I tried to access the internet I would get a tx code 3 so if you are still having problems Check the cables and ends. Also I have had Hughes for 10 yrs or more and was fooled thinking it was Hughes and it was on my end, a tech run probably wont find this so save yourself the tech run money and replace the coaxial cables if you are getting the weird problems like mine. |

grohgregDunno. Ask The Chief join:2001-07-05 Dawson Springs, KY | "Hot" cabling is an unusual problem. Considering that your modem is apparently still operational, there's not enough amperage on them to create heat by themselves. If I were you, I'd check for voltage on ground. You could have a potential house fire on your hands.
