MDF in natural state is pretty acidic. Usually they use an acid free adhesive to lessen the effect. In the open it should be OK.

I'd mount it on 1/2 foam core or ultra core( really thick sizes) then attach it to the MDF but if the print isn't a big deal you can get away with mounting it directly. They even have self stick foam core for large prints.
