The assistant, Siri, is not available on the iPad. Dictation (not branded as Siri by Apple, but considered to be part of Siri by some people) is on the iPad. -- University of Southern California - Fight On! |

I thought the same thing until I clicked on the picture icon below it, that added the magnifying glass, and when you go back it's more compelling of a difference. Still hard to absorb through just a picture, but much better than I originally thought it was.
I had been considering an iPad because I use my super old MB all the time and carry it with me everywhere I go and want a new one, but decided to go on vacation next week instead. I read something about a display adapter, so if this thing can hook up to an external monitor I might actually do it. I need to look into it more (specifically: can I use a BT mouse/KB?)
edit: They're all right here: »www.apple.com/ipad/accessories/ I'm a little concerned at VGA and no DVI, though... -- Blame it on the C2H5OH |

The external monitor output is for mirroring or specialty apps that make use of it (Keynote, Games, etc). You still interact with the iPad via the touchscreen. You can add a bluetooth keyboard to do typing, but there is no concept of a "mouse" on an iPad - it's touch input only. -- University of Southern California - Fight On! |

I think it would be great on the go, but I'd find myself frustrated with it at home. I probably do need a laptop instead. -- Blame it on the C2H5OH |

You have to keep in mind that you are viewing the retina vs. non-retina display comparison on a non-retina display of your own. Of course they will look the same because your view of them is limited by your display resolution. This is why Apple uses the magnifier to show the difference.
By definition, to see the actual difference between the two you would have to view the page using a display of your own that has a resolution of at least 2048x1536. I think I'm pretty safe in assuming that you're not doing that. |
